Beca was nervous. Not the 'I hope this mix works out and people actually like it' nervous. It was more. A lot more. It was like the 'don't you dare screw up your proposal, screw Chloe instead' nervous, times ten. "Mommy!" her daughter, Katie cried, clinging to her wife. "Sweetie, Mommy needs to go to work. Momma will take care of you. Right Momma?" Chloe pried the girl off her. "Um, right," Beca responded, shaking on the inside. Chloe thrust her daughter into her arms and took off. Leaving Beca with a squirming toddler. What could go wrong?
—
That kid never ran out of energy. Seriously, how did Chloe keep up? "You're it!" Katie screamed, running off. Beca simply sighed, chasing after her daughter. "Hey Monster!" she scooped the girl into her arms, "Let's play a different game. Maybe be quiet and colour? Or not make noise and sit still?" Katie just giggled in her face. "Let's play hide and seek!" she squealed, dashing off as soon as her feet touched the ground.
—
Chloe jiggled her key in the lock, quietly opening the front door. The house was silent; their daughter must have been sleeping. "Becs?" she whispered. A soft rustling came from the living room. Gently setting down her bags, she crept towards the living room, hoping to surprise her wife. "Katie?"
Their daughter was quietly drawing, Beca no where in sight. "Katie, why aren't you sleeping? It's naptime sweetie." Katie smiled sweetly before heading upstairs. "Where's Momma?" Chloe asked, still looking around for her wife. The girl simply shrugged, nonchalantly stating, "Hide and seek." "Beca. Beca. Come out come out wherever you are," Chloe had already put the kid to bed and was now in the challenge of hunting down her wife. "Becs." She had already called her phone to no avail. Combing through the living room, kitchen, bedroom, studio, and bathroom already, Chloe was getting frustrated. What type of mother leaves her child unattended for long periods of time? Yeah she was somewhere in the house but still. "Beca Mitchell," she growled, going into the laundry room. Nearly silent snores filled the space. Swinging open a cabinet revealed her wife, fast asleep. She couldn't help but smile. Beca was literally a kid in a fun sized adult body.
