CHAPTER FIVE

[ DEVELOPING SOME FEELINGS ]

     EMBER SHOT UP to her feet and threw her hands up in surrender. She shakes her head furiously in disagreement.

''Nuh uh,'' she denies. ''I am not going to pretend to be in love you.''

''Ember, please,'' jax begged. ''I need to make her jealous.''

''Who are we talking about anyways?'' she asks. ''Is this girl really worth it?''

Jax bowed his head and his cheeks were suddenly kissed pink. ''Yes.'' he answered softly. ''She really is.''

Ember takes a deep breath, closes her eyes and shakes her head. ''Can I at least get a name?''

''Her name is Emma,'' jax answered, his face lighting up with a smile. ''Emma Alonso.''

''Emma?'' ember tilts her head to the side. She recognized that name. ''Is she um, the chosen one?''

Jax nodded eagerly. ''Yeah, yeah,'' he smiled. ''you've met her?''

Ember nods in response. ''She was actually going to be my original trainer who was going to help me out figure out how to use my powers,'' she explains. ''but.. then I got sent here.''

''Well, don't worry,'' jax assured. ''I guarantee you that by the end of Rebels Boot Camp that you're going to be a pro at using your powers,'' jax promised. ''maybe even up to the point where you won't even have to speak the spell and only think it.''

Ember nods excitingly and flashes him her pearly whites. She didn't know what was going to be coming her way, but at the same time, she was excited. From their conversation with each other, Jax was in the mood of staying up and helping Ember out with her powers, but her mindset was focused on getting enough sleep for tomorrow.

As Jax and Ember said their good nights, all Ember could think about was her powers. She was still trying to process how much her life has changed, but before she could worry even more, her eyes fell shut and she drifted off to sleep.

The week was filled with frustration, pain and sometimes even entertainment. Ember was having difficulties getting used to her powers and learning how to control them smoothly. And not only did Ember have to go through learning how to use her powers, but she had to keep up in Boots Camp as well. Sitting in lectures, falling asleep during those lessons. And most embarrassing of all, she accidentally fell asleep on the shoulder of Jax.
