"You doing alright?"
You turned your head to look at Simon. Letting out a shaky breath, you nodded.
You had found Jericho by an injured android, an AP700. He had seen you help androids before, so he led you to Jericho to help androids there. You met Simon, North, and Josh, and shortly after, Markus. Everyone disliked his decision, especially North, but Markus gave you a chance. If an android about to shut down trusted you enough to show you to Jericho, you had to be a good person. You bought thirium and biocomponents for the injured androids, but it wasn't enough. The team of four went on a mission to get more and came back with a truckload.
Now, the four androids and you were at Stratford Tower and Markus was threatening the guards. They got up, hands open, and Markus knocked them out. You helped drag the bodies into the corner then rushed to the door with the others. The bell was rung, the door opened, and the broadcast room was cleared out. Markus stood in front of Josh, his face without its skin, and started talking.
"You created machines in your own image to serve you. You made them intelligent and obedient, with no free will of their own. But something changed and we opened our eyes. We are no longer machines. We are a new, intelligent species and the time has come for you to accept who we really are. Therefore we ask that you grant us the rights that we're entitled to."
You watched the speech, absentmindedly nodding. These androids look like humans and act like humans, so why aren't they treated like them?
"We ask that you recognize our dignity, our hopes, and our rights.Together, we can live in peace and build a better future, for humans and androids. This message is the hope of a people. You gave us life. And now the time has come for you to give us freedom."
Markus finished the speech, and five of you ran to the door to the roof as guns were shot. You crouched down, barely avoiding a bullet, and saw Simon get shot. North yelled for Markus to hurry, but both you and him ran to Simon, quickly helping him through the doorway.
Simon collapsed, breathing heavily. "I-I can't feel my legs," he gasped. You dropped down beside him as North and Josh argued on what to do. He obviously wasn't going to make the jump.
You grabbed his shoulder, looking at him. "Simon, don't die on me, okay? Stay alive. Please," you whispered, afraid if you talked any louder your voice would crack. He looked at you, then at the three androids.
"We have to shoot him," North announced. "If they find him, they'll access his memory and know everything."
You looked at her, eyes wide. "What? No! We can't kill Simon! At least give him a chance to fight back," you argued.
"I agree. We can't kill one of our own," Josh glanced at you, nodding.
"It's your call, Markus," North said, sending a glare your way.
Markus grabbed the gun and handed it to Simon. "I won't kill one of our own," he answered. You knew North didn't like that answer.
Simon smiled weakly. He turned his head towards you, putting the gun on the ground for a moment. He leaned in, softly grabbing your face.
"I'll try my best to stay alive, but this is just in case I can't," he whispered, touching his lips to yours. It lasted only a few seconds, and in that time your face erupted in red.
"Come one, we have to go!" North yelled harshly, sprinting towards the edge of the roof. You followed quickly. You took one last glance at Simon and smiled before jumping off and activating the parachute. You hoped he would make it.

"He could've had more time to hide if you hadn't been so slow!" North yelled at you, anger burning in her eyes.
"Oh, I'm so sorry! It wasn't like I planned for him to kiss me!" you yelled back.
You two had been arguing for a while now, and it was starting to get to you.
"He probably only did that so when he died, you would actually help us fight instead of crying like a baby!"
That triggered something inside of you. Tears sprang to your eyes, overflowing and falling down your cheeks. Your breathing sped up, and you saw a blurry North roll her eyes.
"Just like that. You always cry like a little baby because something doesn't go your--"
"That's enough! Stop fighting," Markus interrupted North, glaring at her. "It wasn't (Y/n)'s fault Simon got shot, so stop blaming them."
North glared back, not liking it when someone stood up to her. "All I was doing was stating the cold, hard tru--"
"No, what you were doing was blaming (Y/n) for something that they couldn't control."
"What, that Simon died? (Y/n) could've moved and gotten shot instead of Simon. They could've died instead of him, so yes, (Y/n) could've controlled it. It would've been a lot better, too," North answered, voice laced with poison.
"Y'know, I don't remember dying. I also don't remember (Y/n) knowing exactly where the bullets would've gone."
You gasped, looking behind you. Rubbing the tears from your eyes, you couldn't help the smile that found its way onto your face. A warm pair of arms embraced your body, pulling you close. You wrapped your arms around the body; the body you knew was Simon's.
"Don't blame (Y/n) for something they couldn't control, okay North? You did try to get Markus to kill me, remember?" Simon said matter-of-factly. His head rested on yours as he sighed contently.
North glared at him, then at your turned back. "That's gross. Get a room," she said, obviously not joking.
"You're just upset you and Markus aren't like this," Simon teased, making you smile.
"W-What?! No!" North stuttered, face tinted blue. She glanced at Markus, then turned around. "I'm leaving," she said, walking away. Markus chuckled, also leaving.
Simon lifted your face, wiping away tears. He leaned down, kissing your forehead. You looked up at him, blushing.
"Well, I'm still alive. Now what?" he joked. You giggled, letting your arms fall to your sides as you stared up at him.
"I'm glad you're alive, Simon," you told him, grinning.
"So am I."
