"(Y/n)! We're so happy you made it!"

Your mom pulled you in for a hug. When she let you go, your dad hugged you. Your parents had drove all the way to Detroit just to see you. Well, you and your mom's best friend. They pulled you inside, closing the door.

"It's been so long," your mom told you, tears in her eyes. "I've missed you."

You rolled your eyes. "It's only been a few months." Your mom was always really emotional, like you. The only difference was she showed her feelings, unlike you, who hid them until you were alone.

"Yeah, and that's too long," she said, embracing you once again. You awkwardly hugged her back. Even though she was your mom, you didn't really like hugs from her, especially when she wouldn't let you go.

Bing~

Your phone's message tone went off, informing you someone had texted you. Your mom let you go as you reached into your pocket.

New message from: Gavin

"youre safe right?"

Oops, you thought. I forgot to text him back.

"Sorry. My parents wouldn't stop hugging me. I'm fine"

"good"

"Oh, who's that? You're boyfriend~?" your mom teased.

"Uh, yeah," you replied, smirking at her surprised reaction.

She started rambling about how proud she was that you found a boyfriend.

You absentmindedly nodded, not really listening to her.

"So, can we meet him?" she asked, making you snap your head up to look at her and your dad.

"Oh, sure, I guess," you replied, laughing nervously. "Um, you could meet them in a few hours, give or take."

She thought you used 'them' in the place of 'he', when in reality you were talking about both of your boyfriends. You were in a polyamorous relationship with Gavin Reed and the RK900 prototype, who was nicknamed Nines.

She nodded excitedly, then dragged you over to the couch to talk about random topics.

~

About an hour had passed, and you were getting tired. You hadn't gotten much sleep the night before because you were wondering how the reunion with your parents would go and if they would want to meet your significant others.

"Oh, (Y/n), you look exhausted. How about you go back home and rest, and maybe later we can come over and meet your boyfriend?" your mom said worriedly.

You nodded, agreeing with her. "Yeah, I guess I'll go now. Love you guys."

"Love you too," they replied in unison. They hugged you one last time, then let you set off for your car.

You lazily opened the door to your apartment, yawning. Gavin looked up from the couch, grinning as he saw your sleepy expression, which he thought was cute. Nines was in the kitchen, making a salad for Gavin. You started walking towards the refrigerator to get a bottle of water.

"Welcome back, (Y/n). Would you like a salad?" Nines asked, glancing up at you.

You shook your head, leaning up to peck his lips, which he gladly accepted. You grabbed your water and went to the living room, plopping down on the couch next to Gavin.

"Hey, sweetheart," he greeted, kissing your nose. You smiled at him.

"Hey, Gav," you replied, laying your head down on his lap. You yawned, closing your eyes and drifting off to sleep.
