Vanessa's Parents moved to the Descendants Pack after their old pack was attacked and wiped out.
Located in Baskerville, the Pack shared territory with another Pack called the Blue Moon Pack in a forest, close to a mountain. The location was away from any big human civilization and the Pack houses were viewed as Camps to the human eye.
But in truth, Vampires and Rogues were always constant sightings among the Pack Communities and fighting occurred.
Despite this, they never relied on magical abilities, so her family moved there to Baskerville in hopes of a fresh start.
As they were from a long line of Betas and trained Warriors, Alpha Raven gave her family prominent positions within the new Pack.
At that time, Vanessa was 3 and her older brother trained to defend the pack.
Her parents were well respected despite being new and her little sister hadn't been born yet.
Putting their family's past and magical abilities to rest, the family lived an 'ordinary' werewolf life in the new town.
A few years into the new Pack life, Vanessa and her twin sister, Kia, were constantly being compared against each other as they were both excellent learners and had potential to fit any role within the Pack Ranks.
Like most families, her parents had a favorite child and it was her sister Kia. They were always in constant sibling rivalry and fighting. Thus, they constantly were known to be troublemakers. Still everyone was happy.
But tranquil peace within the Pack didn't last long.
Vanessa, at age of 7,dared Kia to travel outside of the Pack perimeters and come back by noon. Kia accepted the dare, as she reasoned that she wouldn't go far. Following her sister secretly, they both went out unknowingly to any of the grown ups and ended up getting lost amongst the humans residing outside the Packs.
Typical human crime, Kia was mistaken for a lost, defenseless, human girl and a bunch of men tried to kidnap her.
Not being able to escape the men, Kia was captured and was being shoved into a vehicle when Vanessa caught on to what was happening.
Sensing the impending danger, Kia had shifted to her wolf form, before her sister could rush to help intervene and broke Pack Laws.
1.Never be seen by the humans..
2.Don't tell anyone that you're a werewolf.
3.Don't attack a human to turn him.
The men were amazed by her shift and tried to rustle the young pup into submission. Scared but confidant that her sister would escape, Vanessa had stayed hidden within the shadows and watched on.
Unfortunately, even though Kia's young wolf, was able to break free from the men, they were highly dangerous and wasn't about to let a mythical creature escape.
Kia was shot in front of her.
At the smell of her sister's blood, Vanessa's wolf snapped and forced them into a shift.
She too, foolishly attacked the men but failed. Both girls were captured and Vanessa blamed herself as they were driven off to who knows where.
