Children of the Barricade

Did you see them go off to fight

The children of the barricade that didn't last the night

With guns in hand and hearts so true

Waving the flag marked red white and blue

The little French boys discussing how to light the flame

To them it was anything but a game

The boys sat around a table talking for hours

Until their wine became oh so sour

They took action with a plan

It was during a funeral for one man

For two days they bled

Until all but one was dead

For his friends, he will cry

Until all the tears have gone dry

He and his wife would tell the story

Of the brave men that died in glory

And at the end of the day

They would look up at the people and say

Did you see them go off to fight

The children of the barricade that didn't last the night
