With the window open and the wind blowing my hair, I turned up the radio. The song eastside by Halsey and Khalid started playing, turning up the volume I felt a sense of contentment. With the surrounding forest hugging the highway the sun hadn't been able to break through yet. As the hours ticked by the sun slowly made its way above the tree line, making the drive much more pleasant. With a couple hours left the small towns that were scattered along the way slowly became more sparse. Up ahead I could see the sign for a small gas station and decided that I needed to use the bathroom. Pulling into one of the three parking spaces I strolled inside.

The cold air of the air conditioning hit me with full force as I made my way towards the bathrooms at the back. The bathroom was cleaner than I had expected but I was glad once I was out of there and back into the store. Walking past the slurpees I couldn't turn down the cold refreshment in this heat. Filling up the cup with multiple flavours I then made my way over to the counter.
"$2 please," the man in his late 40's said with a monotone voice. Sliding him the change I turned around and braved the heat. Stepping outside i forgot that I hadn't closed my handbag. Walking with a slurpee while trying to zip up your handbag probably wasn't one of the smart things I'd ever done. Just as I looked up I ran face first into what seemed like a wall. Stepping back I was glad that my slurpee hadn't spilt, but I was caught off guard when the wall spoke.

"Usually around her we just say hi, not run into each other," he said with a smirk.
Looking up I started profusely apologising, when our eyes locked, my words came to a stop. Before me stood a man, not a man a god, his beautifully, tan, chiseled jaw, dark brown messy hair and piercing blue eyes left me speechless. How could a man be this perfect I thought to myself. Containing myself I apologised once more and hurried on over to my car. Opening up my car door I started to slide in when I heard, "Genetics".

Looking up the god still had a smirk on his face while turning around and waking into the store. How in the hell did he know what I was thinking, maybe I had miss heard him, he could of easily said genius. Brushing it off I started up the car and was on my way again.

As the trees become thicker and thicker I knew that I was close to my destination. Looking at the directions I needed to take the next right and I should be there within the next 15 minutes. In the distance I could just make out a small sign that was faded from the years of damage from the weather. I couldn't see much but it did have an arrow pointing down to the dirt road. Turning right my little Mazda was not happy with the rocks and dust. Closing my window I started driving down the small road (if you could even call it that).

As the directions said, 15 minutes later the trees had thinned out and a large looming building emerged. With quick inspection this was no building it was a god damn castle. With my jaw wide open I took in the beauty which lay before me. The old European style stood out with its solid stone presences. I came to a sudden halt as large black gates cut me off from going any further. Out of my peripheral vision I saw a man moving his way towards me.
"Name please," the man asked in a professional tone.
"Lyra Black," I answered hesitantly. Looking down at a list of names a smile appeared on his face.
"Miss Black, welcome," he smiled at me then looked behind him. "She's all good," he said to someone I couldn't see from my car. The gates creaked then slowly started to open up. Giving the man a small nod I drove past the gates and onto the grounds. The pristine cut grass lined the road which lead up to the school and divided into other roads. The huge trees followed the gates surrounding the school and also were along the roads. Coming up to the academy I noticed a parking lot around the left side of the castle. Finding a parking space proved more difficult than I had expected.

Finally finding one close to the back I picked up my bags and locked the car behind me. To the left of me was the left side of the building and to the right of me was grass that dissipated into the forest. Making my way back around the corner I followed the footpath back to the large wooden front doors. Gripping the handles hard I pushed with force and slipped inside the building.
