22. Always a Price To Pay

His breathing stops, his body stops, and he looks at me with the most intense gaze I've ever seen.

It's silent, my panting the only thing audible. I clench my fists from behind my back, afraid of what he'll say next.

What if he doesn't and I just made a fool out of myself?

'Get it together, Lexi. He loves you. He's your mate.' My wolf scolds.

"I..." I start but am not able to finish.

"Yeah, I do." This time, my breathing stops and he looks at me with his normal, violet eyes, now filled with love.

"I... I don't want it to seem like I'm saying that because of what we just did. I'm saying it because it's taken long enough for me to tell you. Way too long." He gently rests his forehead on mine, our breaths mingling together.

I cup his face with my hands and he close his eyes.

"I love you, Alexandra Knightly." He confesses and I feel tears in the corner of my eyes.

We should've confessed a long time ago. Why now?

Probably, because I'm the one who mentioned it.

"I... I love you, Theodore Archer." I whisper back, biting my lip. I just told him I love him. Oh my god, I just told him I love him. I know it's true but I just confessed.

He smiles as I wrap my arms around his neck, resting my head on his shoulder as he does the same. He kisses my shoulder, moving up to my lips. He kisses me furiously, carrying me to the bed and dropping me there.

He lays down next to me, pulling me close against him. I feel his paced breathing, indicating he's asleep.

But my eyes are wide open, sleep not being able to find me.

Day Four of The Game

I've been up all night. It's seven in the morning and no sleep. At all. I guess it's time to wake Theo and get the dresses.

"Theo." I whisper yell into his ear, causing him to jolt up and pin me down on the bed. Not this again.

"Good morning, Princess." He smiles, looking down at me. I manage to get out of his grip and get out off the bed, laughing as I walk into the bathroom.

"We need to get dressed and leave." I yell behind me, shutting the door in Theo's face.

"Do we have to?" He whines from the other side of the door and I roll my eyes, getting into the shower. I hurriedly wash my body and change into a short, black dress. I put on a pair of Converse and walk out of the bathroom, finding Theo already changed. He looks at me, smiles and reaches a hand out.
