25. The End of a New Beginning

My body hits something soft and I instantly try to get up but it pulls me down. I look down at it and I groan. Quicksand, exactly what I need right now.

I start swimming away from it, trying to grab the concrete edge. My hand keeps slipping off of the stone and I begin to hear the sound of dress shoes clacking against the ground. I continue to struggle while looking up at the owner of the sound.

Clad in nothing but a black robe is Henry. He crouches down to reach my level and meets his completely black eyes with mine. I try to move my toes but it feels like I don't have any control over them anymore. I can't even feel them. My head tilts up to look at Henry.

"Where are they?" I spit and he gives me a nasty smile.

"Your mom or mate?" He mockingly pouts and I sneer at him.

"Both of them, asshole." Black smoke swirls in his eyes and I squint to get a better look at them. The smoke in his eyes turns red as I finally grab onto something, thinking it's the ground. Instead, it's Henry's leg and I pull on it, making his back hit the floor. He reaches for my hand and yanks it off, pulling me out of the sand as he does so.

"Thanks," I dust myself off but Henry grabs my hair, throwing me down. I finally get a chance to see the place we're in. It's dark and the walls are made of nothing but solid stone with no window. I look up to see if there if there's any opening but there isn't. My attention goes back to Henry, who is walking toward me as if he can't wait to rip me into ribbons.

I grab one of the daggers on my belt and hurl it at him, hitting him on his thigh. He hisses as something starts spilling out of his wound. Gold blood. A small gasp escapes my mouth as I push myself up against the wall and help myself stand up.

"I- I thought-" I stutter but the words don't come out.

"Of course, you did. No one bothered paying attention to me. It's all about Trey." Henry spits out his brother's name like poison and a dark sound comes out of him.

"What are you saying?" I ask, hitting him with another knife. Liquid gold starts spewing out of the cut.

"I made a deal with The Umbrakis. Give me what I want in exchange for complete control over me." He laughs and I stop and cross my arms over my chest, holding up a finger.

"Dude, do you know how stupid you sound? You gave a demon your fucking soul, does that not come off to you as... odd?" I give him a confused look and he stands still, tapping his chin. I take that ask an opportunity to aim the dagger at his head but the second it leaves my hand, Henry looks up and dodges the knife, running at me.

He punches my stomach. Once, twice, thrice. So many times, bile begins to rise in my throat. I grab his hand and try to burn it but he doesn't even flinch one bit. I twist it hard and knee him in the groin, twisting his arm behind his back. He groans as I smash his head against the stone wall but he slips out of my grasp, hitting his head on mine.
