She felt the soft touch of your thumb when you wiped away her tears,
And your warm breath when you whispered in her ear,
But she could feel the blood on my tongue when all she could sense was fear...She heard the 'I love you' in your smile,
She heard when you said, 'for you, I'd swim the River Nile',
But she also heard when you said... They were all lies just building upon a pile. She smelt the smoke as the fire went out,
She can still smell your old perfume still lingering on the shelf,
With that exceedingly expensive cost that she would always doubt. She could taste the salt in her cry when you left,
And she could taste the bittersweet words stained on her lips,
Even though you told her to forget everything you and her said. But I saw the pain in your goodbye,
I saw that you realised you lost the person that loved you dearly,
And I saw your hope that the love you shared wouldn't fade away and die.You watch for years to come,
You watch her build herself up and move on,
You watch her smile with the new person she loves,
And you hear your voice repeat every day... What have I done?
