Monoma's POV:
As we walked down the sidewalk to her house, my phone kept vibrating in my pocket. Eventually, I got tired of it and pulled it out of my pocket: Testutetsu: 6 messages.
What the hell is so important? I unlocked my phone and checked my messages.
Tetsutetsu: Hey, I got a question.
Tetsutetsu: Do you like her or something?
Tetsutetsu: Or are you guys a thing already?
Tetsutetsu: If not, you need to ask her out
Tetsutetsu: It's kind of obvious that she might be crushing on you too
Tetsutetsu: I could be your wingman dude ;)
(Monoma)
I don't like her like that
We just really met today
So buzz off!
Tetsutetsu: Well how do you explain the two of you getting all blushy and stuff earlier?
Tetsutetsu: You forgot that I was there dude. It was kinda awkward.
Monoma:
Alright, fine. I think she's pretty and stuff but I don't like her like that yet...
Tetsutetsu: Key word YET
Monoma:
Can it tin man
When he didn't reply, I shoved my phone back in my pocket. Looking over to see that she was significantly closer to me than when we left the pet store and that she kept glancing around quickly.
"Hana, are you alright?"
"It's just that I'm afraid of the dark." She wouldn't look at me as she mumbled her answer. I looked around to see that the sun had set already and that it was a bit dark out.
"Well, you can hold my hand if you need to." I mumbled back, almost as embarassed as she was about admitting her childish fear. That conversation with Tetsu really had me thinking.
She didn't say anything back, but she reached out and grabbed ahold of my hand with her own, intertwining our fingers and pulling my arm flush to her chest (being mindful of Peaches who is still hidden in her shirt). I felt my face heat up a bit as she did so and I thanked God that it was dark outside.
We walked for a while longer before she spoke up again. "We're here."
I looked up at her house to see someone standing on the porch. They were tall with long hair and an apron wrapped around his waist. He looked oddly familiar.
"Hana, is that you? Where have you been? Your father and I have been worried sick about you!" He scolded her and I recognized his voice. Her dad was Present Mic!
"Sorry, dad. I had to go pick up a new heat lamp for Peaches and I ran into some friends at the shop." She said, flashing him a smile.
"Is this young man one of those friends or is he something more?" I could see him raise an eyebrow at her.
"Oh my god, Dad! He's just a friend jeez!" She dropped my hand as she covered her face.
"Okay, would your 'just friend' like to stay for dinner? I made ramen!" He asked excitedly. If I was being honest, I was a little hungry.
"If It's not too much of a burden, I'd love to stay for dinner. I just have to let my parents know first." I said as I pulled out my phone.
"It's no problem at all, I'll go let Shota know to set another place at the table." He nodded as he walked back into the house. Hana followed behind him as I called my mother.
"Neito where are you? Where have you been?" She scolded me as soon as she answered.
"I'm sorry, I've just been with a friend." I mumbled into the phone.
"You mean like a friend friend or a girlfriend?" She asked and I could practically hear the smirk on her face.
"Hana is just a friend." I stated.
"Hana is a pretty name. Is she pretty?"
"That's not what I called to talk to you about. I called to let you know that I'll be having dinner over at Hana's house tonight."
"I'm just going to ignore the fact that you just changed the subject without answering my question. Have fun, but be back before too late. I love you, sweetie."
"Yeah yeah, I love you too." I hung up the phone and headed inside. As soon as I did though, I was greeted by none other than Eraserhead. He was giving me quite the intimidating stare as I took in my shoes.
"You're in class 1-B with Hana, correct?" His voice was stern and made me a bit uneasy.
"Yes, sir."
"What exactly are your intentions with my daughter?" He asked taking a few steps closer, his eyes boring into my own.
"Intentions? Sir, I'm afraid you've got the wrong idea about me and Hana. We're just friends, I promise." I took a step back and felt the door press against me.
"If you say so." He mumbled as he backed away into the kitchen.
Hana's POV:
"So, care to explain why Monoma walked you home?" Sayuri asked" laying across my bed with her head hanging off the side.
"When I got to the store, he was there with Tetsu. We talked a bit and then because it was so late, he offered to walk me home." I said as I gently placed Peaches back into her tank.
"How long until it's obvious to you that he likes you?" She asked with a long sigh.
"Monoma doesn't like me, okay? It's probably best that I accept that now so that I don't end up getting hurt." I didn't turn to face her as I answered her question.
"Hana, listen. Not everyone is going to hurt you. You've got to trust me on that, please." I heard her get off the bed and begin to walk over to me.
"Alright, fine. It's like I said before, he's attractive, yes. However, I'm not quite sure he's boyfriend material." I shrugged, finally turning around.
"Well, perhaps the two of you just need some more time to warm up to each other." She stated as she began to walk out of the room.
I followed behind her. Monoma had to be done with his phone call by now, right?
(Sorry if there are any typos. I wrote most of this either late at night or right after I woke up, so sorry about that!)
