A/N: so I guess you’re wondering, why the hell did she update within a few hours? Well, I love writing, and I felt like I had written it all wrong, so I just HAD to update, whoops. I hope this chapter is better than the first one, and I hope you guys like it! :D
The huge oak doors opened and about a hundred students walked in. Kacie could see a couple of buses standing outside, and loads of people pouring out of it. Did there really have to be so many people?
Within minutes, a huge line had formed in front of Ms Brown’s desk. All the students looked nervous, and the parents kept trying to talk to them. After they had been registered, they came to sit where Kacie and Brandon were sitting.
A little while later, a few teachers came with little placards and placed one near every bunch of chairs. The placards read room numbers, and the students started to move towards their respective seats. Kacie walked over to the area that was for Room 20, B Wing, and to her surprise. Brandon came and sat in the area next to her. She looked over curiously. Room 20, A Wing. Of course. Call it destiny or fate or whatever, hers was pretty random and faulty, and had a twisted sense of humour. Oh man, karma, the balance of nature, whatever it was, it sure hated her.
Soon enough, a boy and a girl walked over to them. Theylooked similar somehow, maybe they were siblings or something. Kacie noticed that they were one of the only few unaccompanied by an adult. Kacie immediately sensed their unease at being eyed disapprovingly by the other parents in the room. She had seen too much of it, she knew how they must feel. Holly’s mother had been an alcoholic and was absent more in her daughter’s life then she was present- “Hi! Are you guys in Room Twenty?” Kacie said energetically, earning another look of surprise from Brandon. She couldn’t help it, she had to stop thinking. And she usually babbled nonsense when she did so, so that she would get her mind off whatever she didn't want to think about. Apart from that too, she was extremely talkative, and if was going to give her that adorable confused-puppy look every time she spoke out loud, things were going to get difficult.
“Yeah.” The boy said. He was as hot as Brandon, with sandy blonde hair and sapphire eyes. He was lightly muscled and very tall, and looked pretty friendly. The girl next to him was gorgeous, she had straight blonde hair too, electric blue eyes and perfect, cherry red lips. She wore a bright red dress, despite the cold, with a goth looking jacket and high boots.
Oh sweet Jesus, why couldn't Kacie look that badass, rocking the Popular Cheerleader and Hot Goth Chick look simultaneously? Life just wasn't fair.
“I’m Scarlett Davis, and he’s my twin, Dylan.” She said.
“Hey, now that you're here, we can go to our rooms now!” Kacie exclaimed. She had been dying to see it, see whether it was as beautiful as the rest of the school seemed to be. Also, she was secretly hoping that Brandon would stay, or say no, so that they could sit together for a little while longer. Ridiculous, right? She was crazy.
“Oh, I'm fine.” Said Brandon, “I want to see who all goes here.”
Kacie felt happy, which was stupid. It didn’t mean he wanted to stay with her or anything, only that he wanted to stay there a little longer. Scarlett and Dylan came and sat on the chairs across them. There were about a hundred empty chairs and the fact that Brandon and Kacie, two strangers, were sitting right next to each other made them look curiously at them. Kacie felt her cheeks grow warm.
Scarlett looked at Kacie. “We’re roommates, huh? Cool. Just in case, if you're the bitchy backstabby type, stay away from me. You don’t look it, but who knows.” Kacie felt relief wash over her. Praise the lord (lords? Higher power? Fate? Ugh, whatever.) there was like one normal, nice person here. Scarlett watched her for an answer. As tough as she was trying to act, she looked anxious underneath.
