Everyone was staring at me. I just gave them all a nervous smile not knowing what else to do.
"Ayaan why are they staring at me like that?" I whispered from the corner of my lip.
"Because they have never seen you before and you're my to-be wife. Wait a minute I'll tell them." Ayaan whispered back.
"Everyone Can I have your attention please....oh it looks like I already have your attention. So, yes this is Mahnoor and Yes I'm going to marry her. I have nothing more to tell you. But today I want you all to work as hard as you normally do. Theirs's nothing special today, just that Mahnoor is joining us. So, all of you get back to work please." Ayaan said. Everyone started working instantly. Wow well done Ayaan.
I followed Ayaan to his office as we walked down the middle everyone greeted me and Ayaan with a Good morning. And Atifa was right about the attention Ayaan gets from the girls. Not all but about a quarter of the female workers were staring at him and greeting him with a long Good morning. There was one girl that was like" Hiiiiii sir and Gooood morning" in an annoying tone and on top of that I saw her give me a dirty from the corner of my eye but I didn't care.
I entered Ayaan 's office to see a massive, glass desk in the centre with hundreds of papers, Pens, all sorts of stationary and a very expensive looking mac book scattered all over the table. At the back of the room was a big glass window with vertical blinds. in the corner, there were some chairs and sofas and a magazine table. He had some frames that had cool patterns on them. His Office was amazing. Anyone would love to work there.
"Woah! This place is Wicked. " I said still exploring everything.
"Thanks ..." He said taking a seat on his chair.
"Your Job is soo cool. Look at this place and all these people they work for you and you're their boss. I'll love to be in your position." I said looking at his desk.
"No, you wouldn't. Trust me this job is very boring ... I don't have any time for myself or my family at home. So what if I have a big office what does that mean. I sit here all day anyway. And the people so what If I'm their boss. All they do is work for a living and that's what I do too. But I can't leave this job. It's been in my family for generations and I have to do this for the Family Business thing and even if I dropped out of it dad would kill me. So looks like this job is my life." He sighed and leaned back in his chair.
"Your lucky to even have a job," I said with a sad smile thinking that I would love to have a job where I can earn for myself and do everything for myself. And that feeling after you've done your job would be amazing. You would come home and think of the hard work you did today. Only if I could live a life like that but obviously I couldn't do that because; I was in Pakistan now, where most girls don't get a decent pay or have proper training, I would have a husband who would work nearly all day and who would stay at home if I had a job? and will I even be allowed to have a job and what if we ever had children they would need love, support and care which I wouldn't be able to give if I was a Doctor and Ayaan was a CEO.
"Here begins another uneventful day...." Ayaan said getting his papers out and turning his Mac book on.
So what was I meant to do till 9-10:00 pm. I explored around the office for a bit and read the Magazines. After 30 minutes of nothing, a man came in holding some files.
"Good morning Ayaan. "
" Hi Yaar. What do you mean Good morning? What's so good about this morning." Ayaan said dropping his Pen.
"Your so Negative man. Cheer up for once your gonna get married. Anyways where's Bahbhi? huh?. You must be very happy. who wouldn't? I can tell your in love Ayaan. Kabhi Pyar Hota hai......." The man said taking a seat.
"Shut up. She's right there. And she's not your Bahbhi ." Ayaan said pointing at me. The man turned around to see me sitting on the sofa.
"oh...so sorry... I didn't see you there." He said looking embarrassed.
"So, my name is Omar. I'm one of Ayaan' s best friends. We've known each other for a long time. And pleased to tell you that You'll be marrying a very good man..." Omar said trying to change the topic.
" Yeah, whatever. Sorry about him Mahnoor when he starts talking he never stops." Ayaan said with a smirk. I gave him a fake smile and started reading the magazine.
"So... can you actually do what you came for because you see I don't have time to waste Mr," Ayaan said picking his pen back up. I was kind of getting bored in this office so I got up and got out without them two noticing .when I went out everyone started to stare at me again. I gave them all a smile and said a Hi to anyone I walked past. And all day my day was like that. I went In and out of his office. I had chats with some people. But most of the day was boring.
{At 10:00 when Mahnoor is driving back home with Ayaan}
I was suddenly feeling weird. I felt sick and dizzy. I didn't know why. It wasn't because of the long boring day. I couldn't even talk. When Ayaan parked the car outside the House. I felt even worse. I forced my self to stand up and got out of the car. I stood there leaning on the car like I might pass out any second. After a couple of seconds, Ayaan noticed me. I fell to the ground. It must have looked like I had fainted but I was still aware of everything it was just that I couldn't open my eyes or talk. Ayaan came beside me and shook me.
"Oh.. shit," He said not knowing what to do with me. After a few tries of waking me up, he picked me up Like I was a doll. I had never felt so light and carefree. I couldn't believe that he was picking me up, He carried me inside, up the stairs and into my bedroom and that's when I actually fainted.
