Character Form

Hello again!

We know that many, if not all, of you will have filled in one of these before, but for the benefit of those who may not have: this form is where you set out the character you will be using in the tasks ahead. Some fields are entirely your decision (name, background, personality and suchlike). Some have set parameters. For the free fields, you can be as expansive or as brief as you want. Since the form is not judged and these characters will not be running around killing each other, it won't have much of an effect on your own progress.

Especially for the first few tasks, the form will be the main basis for anybody else choosing to include your character in their entries. So make it good!

Completed forms are to be sent to shadesofbloodteam@gmail.com , with your username in the subject heading.

So it's business as normal. Almost...

Wait, what's this 'audition tape'?

The audition tape is a chance for you to flex your writing muscles early and give the competition a taste of what to expect. For it, we ask you to use no more than 1,000 words to show your character on their audition tape. You can be as creative or as conservative as you like; it isn't marked. It's just a way to stamp your turf and give other writers a better sense of your character going into the first task.

For a better idea how this works, take a look at the forms for Marnie and Jamie.

Who?

The competition features two preset characters for your character to interact with. These are Marnie and Jamie. Their forms will be posted ahead of the others, but they will not write entries and cannot win. They're just there to help make things a little bit easier.

The story so far:

As a brief reminder - it's been so long since those first chapters! - your character has signed themselves up for Who Pairs Wins, a reality TV show set on a luxury sunshine-holiday island where the aim of the game is to pair up and find true love. But that's not all; for the two winners, there's also a massive cash reward...

The show has already run for ten seasons, but this time around two new faces have joined the team, and they are not happy with the way things are being run. Good-cause girl Serena and social media celebrity Todd have managed to persuade the showrunners to be more inclusive and to open up the competition to new people. How successful they have actually been remains to be seen.
