Once upon a time
I had a friend
Not special nor ordinary
The type that doesn't pretendWe talk all the time
Anything beneath the sun
Ranting about problems
Or spouting hundreds of punsHand in hand we go
We planned to touch the heavens above
Together we grow
Until the day my friend had fallen in loveShe hated the day cupid struck her
The day cupid binded her fate
The day cupid was selfish
The day she considered "too late"She fell in love
With a man so great
A man filled with charm
Who knows nothing of hateThey're amazing together perhaps
But the affection was one sided
The man didn't glance at her
A love that's misguided
The only problem was...
I fell in love too
The man looked at me in the eye
We were the perfect twoSecretly we laughed
Hidden glances all day
A secret we kept
Until the seventeenth of May"I can't." I said,
But he just shook his head
"She'll understand...
You're his friend."I guess he was right
It was true love after all
The only problem was
I was my friend's downfall
