"Welcome to Donghyuck's castle, mi casa es su casa." Donghyuck said, pushing the door open with his keys still in the knob.
In a way, I didn't believe him at all. That it was maybe a friend's house or something. But then as I stepped in, the framed pictures of baby Donghyuck hung on the wall told me otherwise. Donghyuck barely had friends anyways.
"So you live in a hotel basically?" I said, since the place could practically be a hotel.
"No not really, it's only 5 bedrooms." he replied, tossing his keys into a glass bowl that was places on a table near the staircase.
"'Only 5 bedrooms' Are you kidding me? My house only has 2."
Donghyuck shrugged his shoulders. "It's not that great. You're welcome to stay if you want. Though if you come, I'm not letting you sleep all alone." He smiled at me.
I blushed a bit since he implied he wanted to fall asleep with me.
We walked down the hallway and Donghyuck led me to his kitchen. "Hungry? Thirsty?" he asked, already opening the fridge and scanning it with his eyes.
"I'll be fine."
"Cmon Minji, at least some water?"
"I'm okay."
"Too bad" He said, placing a glass under the water dispenser. "I poured you some, you have to drink it."
I took the glass from him and took a sip. The water tasted good.
"This is filtered tap water?" I asked, confused as to why it tasted different from normal water at home or at school.
"My family only drinks Fiji water." he said.
I rolled my eyes at him. I knew it wasn't his fault he was rich, but it irked me just a tiny bit.
He was sipping on some kind of smoothie. "Want me to show you the rest of the house?" He asked, leaning on the counter. I nodded.
Donghyuck placed the drink down and led me down the hall, naming each room as we passed a door. We walked up the stairs and went down another hall. "So here's the guest room, and low and behold-" I gulped. Come to think of it, I've never been in a boy's room before. I thought of what my mom said on the phone and felt a slight blush on my cheeks. Donghyuck pushed the door open.
"This is your room?" I asked. He nodded in response.
I started laughing so hard I had to lean on the door frame to keep myself from falling over.
"What's so funny?" Donghyuck asked.
"Donghyuck, why do you have a princess bedroom?!" I practically screeched in between laughs.
Donghyuck stepped in and plopped on his bed, feet up and arms behind his head.
"Donghyuck, there's no way this is your room." I said, finally catching my breath.
"Oh really? First drawer." he said.
I opened the first drawer of his pink dresser to find boxers and an explicit magazine. I closed it as soon as I caught a glimpse of what was there. "Okay never mind. You're right. But you're an 18 year old boy, why do you have a princess bedroom?" I said, giggling slightly at the words coming out of my mouth.
"What? An mischievous rich 18 year old boy can't love being a princess? Honestly it sounds like the synopsis of the next Disney movie."
I shook my head. "You're something else, Donghyuck."
"Is that a good thing?"
I smiled and nodded. A minute of silence passed as I looked at small knick knacks placed atop the dresser.
"Princess Minji, come sit with me."
Donghyuck moved his legs to make space on the bed. He pulled off his shoes and tossed them to the corner of the room, then sat with his legs crossed. He pat the king-sized bed, urging for me to come over. I slid off my boots and placed them on the floor at the foot of the bed. I climbed on and sat opposite Donghyuck, criss crossed like he was.
He had bright pink bed sheets and a pastel pink fluffy blanket with little yellow stars all over it. He had one of those little pink canopies that hung over his bed and draped down the sides. He also had a dozen pillows and tons of stuffed animals.
"I want you to meet someone, Minji." Donghyuck said, gently placing his hand in mine.
I became slightly nervous. Was he introducing me to his parents or something?
We both got off the bed and Donghyuck pulled me over to the other end of his room.
There was a blanket laid over a box. The both of us sat in front of it. Donghyuck pulled the blanket off. "Meet Goob." He said.
I looked down at a small brown hamster sleeping in it's hideout. "Jesus Donghyuck, I thought you were introducing me to your parents or something." I smacked him on the arm.
"Hey, don't smack me in front of Goob. He's very protective. He may not look like much, but I promise you he'll bite through your clothes if you piss him off." He said in the most serious tone.
"Oh, so Goob's a badass?" I asked, playing along with Donghyuck.
"He learns from his father." He responded, giving a smirk.
I raised my eyebrow at him. "What a bad ass." I said, lifting up a pink unicorn plushie on the floor next to Goob's cage. Donghyuck grabbed it from me.
"Hey, these are my precious babies. Be careful with them." He hugged the unicorn tight and gently placed it behind him against the wall.
It was kind of adorable how he cared for all his little stuffed animals and Goob and how he had his blankets and everything folded. It was completely different than how I expected his room to be. Donghyuck wore grey and black mostly and always put on this messy care-free attitude, no one at school would believe this, even if I brought them here myself.
"Minji, smile!"
I snapped out of my train of thought and as if on cue, I held up a peace sign and flashed my teeth.
Donghyuck was taking a snapchat of us with some kind of animal filter on it. "Minji, you have such a pretty smile! That's going on my story."
He captioned it, "Goob approves of her." And he put a little kissing emoji next to it.
"Donghyuck, people are gonna think I'm your girlfriend when they see that." I said, cocking my head to the side.
"Well aren't you?"
I blushed at his response. He scooched closer to me, placing his hands in mine. His gaze held mine. "Even if you're not, then let them think whatever they want. We're whatever we want to be. And we're the only ones that get to decide that."
In that moment, I could've swore I started to fall in love with him. As crazy as it was. The legendary, rich, most hated kid at school. And here I was. Sitting in front of him on the floor of his princess bedroom, falling in love with him.
He leaned in and pecked my lips softly.
"Donghyuck, you're supposed to let us know if you're inviting over people that aren't Mark or Jeno" an unfamiliar deep voice called.
"Yeah, especially if it's a girl." A woman's voice said.
The both of us quickly turned out heads. My eyes widened.
"Oh, hey Mom and Dad. You guys are home early."
