Six young pegasi ponies were flying. They were all flying together like full time Wonderbolts, except they all wore different colored and breezy scarfs around their necks, not to mention that they're not even Wonderbolts yet. Their different colored but brilliant eyes litted on their beloved village and the crystal-made castle in the shape of the North Star.
It was their home known as Ponyville and the castle belongs to Princess Twilight, the Princess of Friendship. It shimmered in the golden morning light like a star-shaped crystal from the Crystal Empire.
Most of the houses are made of timber-framed with distinct thatched roofs and overhanging upper balconies. The town hall stood in the middle of the village and Sweet Apple Acres stood on a far-off hill. In the outskirts of the village was the marketplace, shops, Ponyday Spa, cafes, and a few rich homes.
The leader of the pegasi was Storm Breeze, a young winged mare with a light gold coat, yellow-golden mane and tail with five or six light blue stripes, brilliant blue eyes hinted with gold, and three light gold lightning bolt cutie mark.
A same aged winged mare with a light yellow coat with a fire-colored mane and tail (like Spitfire), pink eyes, a red-yellow sun cutie mark, and known as Sunblaze. A same age pegasus stallion with a pale blue-gray coat, dark blue mane and tail (like Soarin), a dark blue lightning cloud cutie mark, and known as Thunderstorm. A same age and yellow pegasus mare with a red mane and tail streaked with yellow, brilliant orange-gold eyes, a red-yellow fire cutie mark, and known as Wildfire. A light gold and yellow coat with long dark brown mane and tail, dark brown-splashed hooves, brown eyes hinted with gold, a eagle's shadow cutie mark, and known as Eaglespirit. Lastly, a year younger sea-blue pegasus mare with light green-yellow mane and tail, brilliant emerald-green eyes, three light green-blue raindrops cutie mark, and known as Tsunami.
The six of them flew together to empty their minds. They were all friends when they were only foals at Cloudsdale Training Center. Stormbreeze scanned the terrain below of them, enjoying the heights and the pleasure of seeing the sightings from the heights of the sky. They all flew in the same cornation as a migrating flock of geese.
"Let's see how high we can go!" called out Storm Breeze to her best friends.
Storm Breeze lifted her nose and pumped her wings, driving her body into the cloud layer. She peeked back to see her friends following behind her, their eyes glittered with joy. It was much more difficult to fly straight up than it was to cruise parallel to the land, but they both enough experience from their flying lessons. Storm Breeze surged higher, her sky-blue hide was damp with cloud sweat, until she passed through the mist and see where the sun was bright.
Storm Breeze narrowed her eyes against the bright rays and the chill so penetrating she could feel it in her hooves. She looked down and saw that her friends had flown as high as they could. They followed from underneath her, watching and waiting for her. Storm Breeze can hear the roaring winds echoing in her ears, she managed not to miss a wing beat, and she felt her eyes water from the chill.
Thinking it was high enough, Storm Breeze relaxed her wings and let her body stall in midair. When she began to fall, she flexed her wings, controlling the current, and rocketed toward her friends, squinting at the crosswinds that battered her face. She slowed down when she was near them and gliding in front of them, as if nothing had happened.
"You went so high!" exclaimed Sunblaze with wide eyes.
"A little too high." muttered Thunderstorm.
Wildfire's eyes were brilliant and said. "The legends about the Commander Hurricane, Commander Firefly, and the Royal Legion must have been true."
"Come on!" neighed Tsunami from the front. "Lets run in White Tail Woods!"
"And join the ponies in the Woods!" agreed Eaglespirit.
The six of them flew down towards the huge woods. They saw all the ponies stretching and getting ready for the race. They saw the starting line, it looked like the race they have seen every autumn but never ran in it. The all gently landed on the ground and they saw Applejack and Rainbow Dash with a few students from the School of Friendship.
"Hey Rainbow!" called out Storm Breeze to her friend from Flight School.
"Hi Stormy." said Rainbow Dash as she joined Storm's side.
"I reckon you six are you going for a quick run in with the others?" said Applejack as she walked towards them.
"That's right." said Eaglespirit as he joined Storm's side.
"Let's sign in." said Storm Breeze.
Storm Breeze signed in her and her friends' names with Spike. He put pieces of paper with numbers 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, and 19 over their cutie marks.
"Y'all runners head up to the starting line!" called out Granny Smith from the stage through the microphone.
Everypony went up to the starting line with bright eyes. The Pegasi had tied up their wings with rope, and stood in front of the starting line.
"Ready!?" said Granny Smith.
Everypony bent down, all ready for the race. Storm licked her lips as she stood in the front of the herd.
"Set!?" Everypony tensed with excitement. Storm felt her muscles and reflexes churning under her coat, like lightning.
"Go!!!" howled Granny Smith.
Storm and everypony else started stampeding towards the forest upon instinct, making all the leaves fall from their trees. Overhead was Pinkie Pie as a reporter in a hot-air balloon and Spitfire was watching the stampeding herd.
—— Spitfire's POV-
Spitfire was watching everypony from the sky. She had seen Storm had flown above the clouds, which is very hard to do and only the greatest fliers had did that. Spitfire watched as the faithful leader known as Storm Breeze led everypony through White Tail Woods.
She has a great quality of a determined leader and a spirit of a Wonderbolt. thought Spitfire.
Not so far off from Storm was Thunderstorm, Sunblaze, Wildfire, Eaglespirit, and Tsunami following their best friend in the stampede. All their wings were tied up by their sides and their expressions all have a bright and excited looks.
Maybe they can train as the Wonderbolts' new apprentices. thought Spitfire, her eyes sparkled as she watched the faithful leader and the determined herd.
