Chapter 11

THEA POV

I got dressed and ready to head out when Xander stopped me at the door.

"Going somewhere?" he asked like the big brother he is.

"Just meeting with a friend," I said.

"What friend?" Chase asked.

"Just a friend," I rolled my eyes. "I'll be back before 10," I said.

"Hey," Xander held me back before I got the chance to walk out the front door. "take my car."

"What? You never let me use your car," Chase said, jealously.

"I can walk Xan," I said.

"I know you can walk, baby girl, I know it might rain later so just take the car," he hands me his keys. I hesitated but then took them.

"Thanks," I said and gave him a big hug.

When I reached the carnival, it started sprinkling. I got here a little early so I waited near the ticket stand.

I have forgotten how long I stood there but I saw people started walking in and out the carnival, the sunset, and the parking lot slowly dilute with cars.

The rain did start but I found myself hard to move. Did something happen to Logan? What if he got into an accident?

"Hey, girl!" the old man behind the ticket counter called out. I looked over and it was Sawyer, one of Don's friend. "Why are you just standing there?"

"Hey Sawy," I greeted. "I'm waiting for a friend."

"Clearly they ain't showing up it's raining and everybody is getting out of the carnival."

"Oh," I said disappointingly.

"Don't be sad, kid," he said. "look, why don't you come back tomorrow and I'll give you a couple free rides?"

I giggled. "I'm not five," I said.

"Kid, you are as small as the next kid I saw riding the fucking fares wheel. I need to tell Zayn to feed you more."

I smiled.

"Alright, now run along before it pours heavier," he said.

I nodded. I was already soaked wet. I didn't want to get Xander's car wet so I decided to walk home. I grew more anxious and worry about Logan. Why do I care so much about him? I've only known him, or at least that's what I remember. Why do I feel a disturbing ache over my chest when I think of him. When he is close, I feel my heart near my throat and when he is far, I can help but to wonder.

Once I got home, Chase spotted me first.

"Did you fall into the river or something?" he asked.

"Or something," I said, tiredly.

"What happened to the car?" he was shocked.

"I left it at the carnival parking lot," I said.

"Why?" Xander asked, he handed me towels and helped dried me up.

"I didn't want to get the seat wet," I said.

"Silly girl," he dried my hair and nudged me. "you'll get si-"

Before he could finish, my legs weakened and I collapsed to the floor.

"Thea!" I heard him called out then saw the blur motion of them trying to get me up. Xander or was it Don, carried me to my room. My head started to hurt.

"She hasn't really recovered from the accident three months ago," Don said. "she shouldn't have a fever or get sick."

"Has she been taking her pills?" Xander asked. "what is it, Chase?"

"She will kill me," Chase said.

"I will kill you," Xander replied.

"She stopped taking them a month ago," Chase exposed me.

"Why?" Don asked.

"It made her head hurts and she feel nauseous so she said she stopped."

"Does Zayn know?" Xan asked.

"Oh hell no," Chase said. "I caught her and that's how only I knew."

"And why haven't you told anyone?" Don growled.

"She-" Chase paused.

"You better come clean or so god help me-" Xan started.

"Okay okay, she said she will do my laundry-" Chase started.

I heard something was thrown across the room.

Then everything went black in a flash. And I saw Logan. We were at his place back in LA. Brief memories resurfaced and it was like watching my life backwards. As I remember more of our memories together, the more I felt my heart sinking.

I woke up and sat up the bed. It was dark out and I was alone in my room. I curled my knees to my chest and let out my tears.

The worst part is not remembering, it's getting your heart broken twice.
