“The baby’s coming,” I told the Doctor. His eyes showed that he was shocked. My mind started racing, what were we going to do?
“Rory, you’re a nurse,” the Doctor said, looking up at dad. “We could always have her give birth here,” dad said. I thought about it before beginning to protest. But pain hit me again and I cried out. “No, not here,” I pleaded with the Doctor. He just looked down at me.
“There’s not many other choices,” he said, looking down at me, his eyes sad. “Hell no,” I said. The Doctor held my hand bringing his mouth to my ear. “I won’t let doctor’s mess with our child because it has two hearts. We can’t go to the hospital. Please Violet, I’m begging you. Please stay here,” he whispered to me. I took a deep breath before nodding. “Ok,” I said, looking at my family. The Doctor stayed next to me, holding my hand when pain struck my body. I could feel sweat starting to lightly cover my body.
“I’m not sure I can do this,” I told the Doctor. “Yes you can Violet, you’ve faced weeping angels, Daleks and many other creatures. You can do this,” he said, squeezing my hand lightly. I looked up at him and smiled.
I started taking deep breaths, I needed to calm down. My mind was racing and I couldn’t focus. I can do this, I kept repeating to myself.
Six hours later. . .
“Push!” mum yelled at me. With that, I heard a baby’s cry. I looked up to see the Doctor smiling down at me. I smiled up at him, taking a deep breath. Hair stuck to my forehead. The Doctor gently leaned down, pushing all the hair from my face and kissed me.
I quickly deepened the kiss. I broke the kiss hearing my baby’s cries were getting farther away from me. “Where’s our baby?” I asked, looking up into the Doctor’s eyes.
“Rory had to go clean the baby up and make sure she’s doing ok. Amelia is also cleaning up. They’ll be back soon,” he said, smiling at her.
“You did good,” he said, kissing my forehead. I smiled up at him. “Where’s the crib?” I asked, looking around. The Doctor laughed, remembering our conversation this morning. “I’ll go get it,” he said, running from the room.
A few minutes later, he ran back in with a old looking crib and a glass of water. I quickly took the water, drinking it quickly. “How old is this thing?” I asked, looking down at it. It was very old looking, it was gray with a different type of writing on the side and stars hanging above it.
“It was mine,” he said, smiling down at me. My jaw dropped, “This old thing was yours?” I asked, looking at it. “Yes, the writing on the side is from Gallifrey. It’s my name actually,” he said, looking down at it with old memories coming to his head.
Mum walked in. She looked at the crib and laughed, “You still have that?” she asked, walking up to it. “Of course I still have it Amelia,” he said. “We once let Violet sleep in it,” she said, laughing. “I remember that!” he yelled cheerfully.
“Where’s my baby?” I asked, when the laughing subsided. “Right here,” I heard a voice say as dad walked in with a baby wrapped in a blanket. He gently put the baby into my arms. “It’s a girl,” he said, smiling.
I looked down at her. She was beautiful. Tears instantly came to my eyes looking down at her. She had the Doctor’s beautiful green eyes, and had the most beautiful smile. I looked up at the Doctor to see that he had tears in his eyes. I smiled at him. He looked down at me, smiling through his tears.
“Want to hold her?” I asked him, gently lifting the baby up to him. He gently took her. “She’s beautiful,” he said, laughing as he wiped tears away. I smiled, looking at him.
He smiled down at the baby before bending down to gently kiss her forehead, “I promise you baby that nothing bad will ever happen to you,” he said, a tear streaming down his face.
He looked back up to me, smiling. “Not to ruin this beautiful moment but I have to ask. What is my granddaughter’s name?” mum asked, getting closer to my baby.
The Doctor looked to me. We had never actually thought about a name. I closed my eyes thinking of the perfect name, and thought of all the people I had met and heard about. A smile crept to my lips as the name came to me.
“How about Zera River Pond-Williams?” I asked. The Doctor turned to me his eyes lighting up. “It’s perfect,” he said, sitting next to me. “I agree,” mum and dad said, getting closer to us, to see their grandchild. I smiled at the Doctor, the man who I waited for and dreamed about. The man who was perfect. And then to the child that our love had created. I smiled at her thinking about all the great things she would accomplish.
I pushed myself up gently kissing the Doctor. “I love you,” I said, looking into his eyes. “I love you too,” he said, smiling down at me.
