NIGHT AND SHINING
ARMOR, SORT OF .♤
MACKENZIE SAT IN THE LIBRARY, CLEARLY bored out of her mind.
The young librarian, whose name is Jackie, sat at her desk, typing on her computer with her hair tied into a knot. Mackenzie tapped her pen on the table, mindlessly looking around at the books that surrounded her. The librarian gave Mackenzie a stern look, holding her sight until Mackenzie looked at her, stopping her pen's movement.
"When can I leave?" Mackenzie asks, making Jackie sigh.
"At 3:30."
"But that's when school ends."
"That's what ISS is, Miss. Ziegler. Now please, you're distracting me."
"YoU'rE dIsTraCtiNG mE!1!1" Mackenzie mocked, picking up her work that she already finished.
"What time is it, Jackie?"
"It's 11:35." Mackenzie groaned, banging her head on the table. "Can I at least go get my lunch?"
Jackie sighed while side eyeing her, picking up the hall pass and holding it out for Mackenzie to grab. She shuffled out of her seat, grabbing it.
Mackenzie left the library, looking both ways down the hall in fear of seeing the principal, and giving her a more severe punishment.
Once she arrived at the cafeteria, she sighed in relief when no one was present, yet. Mackenzie couldn't handle any more cat calls, or girls snickering at her in jealousy or shame. She walked to the front, grabbing her spaghetti, muttering a thanks to the lunch lady.
She began her journey back to the library, not before seeing the principal walking toward her, she sucked in a breath, turning around and hiding behind a nearby wall until he passed her by.
She sighed in relief, turning back around heading her way back to the library, running into a tall figure, she gasped, looking down at the red pasta sauce that covered her, previously, white, crisp polo shirt. Mackenzie looked up, seeing a pair of green eyes and she groaned, handing him the tray as she stormed away.
"Just my luck I had to run into you." She spat, her walking speeding up, but Johnny was hot on her trail, speeding up his walking pace as well.
"Mackenzie- wait!" He stuttered, throwing the tray on the floor, quickly catching up to her. "I'm sorry, how can I help?"
"You can't! This entire thing is your fault, anyway."
"What entire thing? What's wrong?"
"Like you would give a flying fuck about how I feel!" She whisper yelled, stopping in her tracks, turning to face him. "Just leave me alone, Johnny, you're a piece of-"
"I have a shirt in my gym locker." He interrupted her, making her eyebrows furrow.

MACKENZIE SIGHED AS SHE WAITED FOR Johnny on the floor outside the locker room.
"Here." He mumbled, handing her a scrunched shirt in his hand, "It's a little wrinkly, sorry about that."
She grabbed the shirt, revealing the wrinkled shirt and she chuckled. "Yeah, no shit."
"I'm sorry, again."
"It's whatever, I guess, I don't want to be angry anymore. I'm just upset because I have ISS."
"ISS?"
"Yes, ISS."
"Elaborate."
"I'm suspended, but I have to stay in school, in school suspension..." She trailed off, hoping Johnny would understand.
"Oh." He said, awkwardly, kicking the ground, unenthusiastically before sitting on the floor next to her. "Why?"
"Some idiotic kid was throwing notes at me." She shrugged, "I told him to fuck off in front of the class."
Johnny chuckled, shaking his head. "What kid?"
"James Charles." She sighed, standing up, about to walk back to the library. "He's a real dick... anyways, thanks for the shirt."
Johnny smiled at her, watching her turn the corner in order to go back to the library. Johnny's jaw clenched- he knew this was all his fault, but he had to teach this kid some sort of lesson for wronging Mackenzie, and he knew exactly what to do.
