Sitting in his office, Manik was playing with the Paper wait, rotating it in his fingers, while his mind drifting off to Nandini and the pillow that he escaped at the nick of the moment. A smile played on his lips, as her angry face came into his vision, and he couldn't help but adore Nandini for her expressions. A knock on the door, broke his little escapade and he smiled watching Shiwali enter.
"Hey! What's up?", He was beaming with joy, and it took everything in Shiwali to not turn and leave the place, knowing she would be the one to wipe this smile off his face today.
" The ceiling I guess!", She replied with a very weak smile, and Manik tilted his face, shaking his head.
" Lame!", He commented and she shrugged, before settling down on the chair, with his lunch.
" So what's going on? You have been so busy for the last few days!", Manik questioned, simultaneously opening up the lunch box, and it thrilled him to see all his favourites together.
" Just been busy with stuff, my masters degree came and those offical formalities", Shiwali made a face, and it made Manik laugh. He knew how much she hated office related formal works. He made a teasing face at her, and it made her giggle again.
A few minutes later, She watched him eat in satisfaction, denying when he offered her back. A constant smile on her lips, savouring the sight of him enjoying every bit of the food she had made so painstakingly for him. And after he was done, she stood up, her hands nervously clutching the side of the table, and her eyes looking straight at his confused ones.
"Manik, I have something very important to tell you!".

Nandini was pacing the visiting room to and fro, waiting. She had come to visit Shiwali, in the hospital she worked in, and was asked to wait since Shiwali had gone out for the time being. When the nurse came in to inform her that Shiwali was back, Nandini halted in her steps, taking a few very deep breaths to compose herself. She needed to be neutral when she talked to her, and she kept on reminding this to herself.
Pushing open the door, she entered to be welcomed with a smile. A formal smile. Nandini noticed that it wasn't what she was used to, the warm and comforting smile of Shiwali. It was rather, extremely formal and her face gave away nothing.
" Hey!", She greeted and sat down on the chair.
" Hi!", Shiwali greeted back.
" Shiwali, I- I wanted to talk to you about Manik", Nandini came to the point directly, and Shiwali's eyes widened. She had clearly not expected this.
