~Sinclaire's P.O.V.~

Smack!

That slap made her fell to the ground. I couldnt help but gasp. Then he turns around and spots me. I try running back but he grabs me by hair and throws me on top of her.

"Shad," she chokes out, "leave her alone. She didnt do anything."

"You dont get it do you?" he laughs. "I want you dead! I want both of you dead! All of us should be dead!" He looks at me and his face turns into something sorrowful. "Im sorry, sis. I have to do this...for us."

I shake my head, not understanding.

"What do you mean?" my mother asks.

"Shut up! I wasnt speaking to you!" He pushes me off of her, forcefully, and kicks her in the stomach. I hear her let out a squel then she hunches over and moans in her pain.

"Stop hitting her!" I say, just about crying.

He walks over to me, takes a bunch of my hair and pulls me up to his face. "Look at me," he instructs. I keep my eyes on her until he yells, "Look at me!" I quickly flash my eyes to his and he continues, "Did she stop him? Did she volunteer? We could have our father right here if she sacraficed herself."

"You cant blame her for that," I cry out.

"Yes I can! And I am. She has to pay for it."

"She already paid for it. She had to watch him die and take care of us with no help. How do you think she feels?" I protest.

"I think she's pretty happy. That has to change."

"Then why not just kill us instead of hurting us so badly?"

"Because, I want both of you to feel what he went through. Then I'll kill you"

My eyes widen. I cannot believe my brother would even think about killing us. The woman took care of him his whole life, he despises. The sister who he once loved with all his heart and would do anything to protect her, he beats unconcious from time to time.

"But what about you? You did nothing wrong. You were always a great sister. Sweetest kid anyone ever knew. You dont need me or her. Anyone would take you in at the chance. Why kill you?"

"Why?"

"Because I want you to go down with me. We always did everything together when we were younger. Why not continue?" He smiles at me. I just look at him as if hes stupid. Stupid isnt the word. Crazy. "Dont worry, sis. We can finally be free of all of this. Right before the reaping. They wont have to worry about us going in that arena. We'll be with dad." He smiles again.

"You dont have to do this, you know."

"Yes I do!" A piece of his spit flies in my face. "See this?" he says, pulling a knife out of his boot and waving it around in my face. "Its hope."

I stared at him blankly and he cut the piece of my hair he had in his hands and let me drop to the floor. I lie there as I hear him scream. My brother isnt a lunatic. He just has problems. His actual mother died giving birth to him and his father...we dont know what ever happened to him. My mother found him one day and took him in. Then about a year and a half later, they had me. My father was everything to him. And, I guess, seeing him die on the television made him loose it. I dont remember much from the Hunger Games, but my mother gives me a small detail of it. When I ask she informs me that my father died a slow death, crying out and cursing to the Capitol. But in the re-runs they dont show his death at all. Yes, it's devastating but I dont understand why Shad would go crazy on US for something the Capitol did.

If anything, his revenge should be taken out on them.
