~Imani's P.O.V.~
"How bright will it be?" I ask
"Pretty bright," answers Ray.
"Yes, Ray, that answers my question clearly," I say sarcastically and with a chuckle.
He puts on his famous half smirk.and says, "You didnt ask for detail."
I sigh. "Can you please describe the brightness of the nightlight?"
"Are you addressing me or..." he says looking around, as if someone else is there besides us.
"Rayson, can you please describe the brightness of the nighlight?" I ask
"That's not my name." He stops his work and looks up at me, who is standing over him. "You should know this by now." Then he smirked.
I rolled my eyes. "Loon! Will you please describe the- Why am I doing this? Its pointless."
He finally laughs. "It'll be blue and bright enough to fill the the room."
I breathe out, almost like a relief sigh. "Thank you!"
"You're welcome."
I move away from him and sit on the couch, watching him work. He's good at his work but he's just lazy. It took me almost a week to get him to finish the nightlight! Its not for me, of course. And I have no siblings to give it to. Its for his younger sister and baby brother. Basically his kids. Both his parents work at the power house and barely have time for their kids. But at least they provide good enough for them to take care of themselves. Or, for right now, Ray take cares of all of them. Our district provides power for the Capitol. You would think, since we're helping them power that big city of lights, that they would provide us with something as little as food. Especially when they're known for being so wasteful of food and just about anything.
I take my attention off of the thoughts of the Capitol and back on to Ray, my boyfriend of a year and two months. We're both mad for each other. Completely in love. I smile at the thought. I can see him in the future as my husband, but not father of my kids. He already has two kids to look after, like a father and i help take care of them, like a mother. Those are our kids. Kaylen and Taysean. I laugh at that. Ray, Kay, Tay. My laugh catches Ray's attention.
"What," he says.
"Have you ever notice that you have a family of 'ay's," I say, still laughing.
His face went straight, almost instantly. "Are you seriously doing this, Imani?"
"Ray Ray, Tay Tay, Kay Kay," I started. "Day Day, Say Say, Fay Fay. Aye! Aye!" I started cracking up and his face wasn't helping me calm down. Soon enough he started laughing too.
