Days rolled on painfully slow, the continuous stings and noticeable flickers growing onto me. They didn't surprise me or affect me anymore, they happened so often I ignored them.

But what did surprise me was how often it happened around Harry. I don't know if it happens to him as well or if his symbol even flickers but the chances of Harry being my soulmate is at 50-50.

I walked into the parking lot, seeing a few seniors run to their cars in a hurry to get to joints for lunch. I searched for my keys in my backpack, pulling out the lanyard and clicking the button a small 'beep beep' heard.

"Hey Imani!" The familiar voice shouted causing me to quickly turn around, the famous dimpled grin making my heart melt.

"Yes Harry?" I smiled as I leaned against my car.

"Are you going out for lunch?" He asked, "Mind if I join you?" He tilted his head to the side before smiling wide, the sight making my cheeks red.

"Yeah, totall-" I felt the sting in my wrist once again, this time worse than before.

"Ouch, what the fuck." I quickly look down to see my symbol starting to glow, not flicker but glow. My heart rate started to pick up, not knowing what to do but stand there and watch my symbol glow brighter by the second.

I looked at Harry, noticing how shocked he was.

"Your symbol, it's lighting up!" I shouted whilst pointing at his wrist, "Harry, why is your wrist lighting up?" I felt the nerves shoot through my body in panic.

"Your wrist is lighting up too!" Harry shouted back, pointing at the small symbol, "Holy shit, are we-"

"No, no, no," I cut him off, walking backwards, "No possible way."

There is no fucking way that Harry Styles is my soulmate.

I felt my breathing cut off short and every nerve in my body shut off. I didn't know how to react, I didn't know what to do but freak out.

"Imani," Harry reached towards me, his arm grabbing mine, our symbols instantly glowing ten times more bright. "Relax, breathe," His voice soothed me as he pulled me closer to him, the closer we got, the brighter our symbols became.

I had a feeling but did I want the feeling to be true? No, I'm pretty sure nobody did.

He wrapped his arms around me, rubbing my back in comfort while I tried to control my breathing, closing my eyes and taking a deep breath in.

"You're fine, don't freak out," He pulled away and placed his hands on my shoulder, his green eyes staring into mine.

Both of our eyes looked down at our wrist, noticing it turn completely black afterwards.

"Harry, what do we do?" I whispered, my eyes never leaving my wrist. I had been praying, hoping that this day would happen and now that it finally has, I'm wishing it never did. I was wishing my soulmate wasn't Harry Styles, man known to break hearts.

"You don't, you don't want me to be your soulmate," His hand grabbing my wrist, "Don't you?"

I didn't know how to respond. I opened my mouth yet nothing came out.

"No, that's not it," It certainly was it, "I just- I don't know, okay? This all happened too fast and, and I don't know how to react to it."

He nodded, letting go of my wrist.

"Harry, listen," I looked up at him, my eyes looking into his, "Are you surprised that we have the same symbol, did you ever expect it to be me?"

He nodded a small no, his eyes never leaving mine.

"Okay, do you understand what I'm feeling right now?" I asked again, another small nod earned from him.

"Do you still want to go out for lunch?" He asked, his voice raspier and a lot more quiet. I gave him a small smile and nodded, pulling away from him to get into the car.

-

"When did your wrist start flickering?" He asked me, moving around the fries on his plate. I traced the symbol on my wrist, still processing everything that happened earlier.

"Uh, maybe a few days after I turned seventeen," I felt his stare on me, "You?"

"They barely started happening senior year," He took a bite out of the fry, "It was at random times but it started happening a lot more when we met."

I stopped moving my finger, moving my head up and staring at him. I felt my blood rush to my cheeks, quickly looking down to hide my face.

"Imani," My name rolled off of his tongue so effortlessly, "Do you want to make this thing work, our symbols wouldn't light up for no reason."

"I know Harry," I sighed, "Obviously we have to make this work."

I heard him chuckle.

"Can I take you on a proper date then?" He asked, instantly looking up with a small smile.

"Yes, yes you can."
