I gripped my wrist to stop it from shaking and inhaled deeply. The humid air surrounding my cellar finally carved a passage through and, gratefully, I gathered what I could. I chose to return quickly, there was no benefit in drawing attention to this place, or killing myself before a possible death.

But before that I took one last look, then buried it. This one, with nothing but my bare hands. Generally, the cellar would be the first place to look, but that was the point. Perceptive people wouldn't look in the obvious places first, not if they viewed their opponent as equally smart.

I made my way up the stairs and shut the door. I turned every lock, key, and secured it with every protective charm I knew. Maybe he'd easily make his way through here, but it'd be different this time. Something he wouldn't forsee, I hoped.

I chuckled at the bolts on the door. Sure, he'll make it through my charms, but these puny man made locks'll get him! I allowed myself a laugh, but briskly drove myself down back to earth. I had to be prepared, in short time.

I gathered whatever was with me, until I heard the knocks on the door. Knocking before breaking it down. Charming. I'm sure the neighbours would appreciate.

"Your obstinate nature was always something I didn't favour." Venom enveloped his words. I sighed heavily. "Something differentiating you from the others. I just wish you weren't so stubborn."

"I'd rather be, then follow you cowardly." Fear slid through my bones. No. It'd take more than that.

"Oh dear, haven't you heard the rumours? It's better for us both we end this quickly." Slyness devoured his tone, fully accepting everything was in his control.

And that's when I struck, immediately voicing a spell and attacked, but it he blocked it almost immediately. We continued to conjure whatever was in our power, ruining any chances of defeat. It was then when he grabbed my hands to prevent any confronting. And that's when I took the opportunity to do what I do best.

Quickly, I locked eyes and felt a powerful source soar throughout my body. I unravelled his thoughts, and I changed them, contradicting his every belief, barricading his every goal, destroying his every lead.

But he broke it. He fought through. Unnerved, I found myself on the floor, knowing there'd be no way back up, and without mercy, he'd finished what he came for. He attained what he was known for. Murder.

A victorious snigger rounded his lips. He kneeled beside me as I lay helplessly on the floor. His whispers like sparks of fire, plummeting down me. "I told you so." He advanced towards the cellar, and only shivers embraced me. Effortlessly, he broke through my charms and reached for the door handle. "Reverse Phycology..." he turned the handle. "Reversed."

I held tight to Precious in my pocket and let out a sigh of relief. It was then I heard the impact and felt it. It worked.
