"What made you like this? Why do you want to kill everyone so badly?" Frisk asked as he took a seat on the ground. Patting the spot next to him, Chara hesitantly took a seat. "What happened to you?"
Chara looked away from the other boy, reliving the memories he wanted to bury inside him. The memories of all the torture and abuse he had to endure all due to a little theory. Everyone in his village believed that humans were born with evil in them, they would force all evil into one child. One child was chosen at random to be the "vessel" and blamed for all of humanity's evil. They believed that if one person could bear the evil, they could no longer be evil. Chara could still remember all the hateful words people spat out at him, how they all ridiculed him, all because he was the chosen child.
"Time took it's toll for me. I lost hope in humanity long ago, until I fell here. Alphys is wrong about me being you from another timeline. I'm Chara, the first human to have fallen here." Looking back at Frisk, Chara shrugged as he said, "I was living with Toriel and Asgore back when Asriel was still himself, not a flower."
As if surprised, Frisk stared at him as he tried to think of Chara loving the monsters. He had said that he wanted to kill them, and yet, they were his family. Why did he loose hope?
"Before you ask me, I'm not telling. My reasons are my own, and are between Asriel and me." Standing up now, Chara was ready to walk away until Frisk took their hand. He wanted to learn more about Chara than what Chara was willing to share. "No. I'm not saying anymore. It's none of your business anyways."
Frisk nodded, deciding to find out when Chara was ready to tell him. "Come on, let's go back with the others. I'm sure Toriel would love to see you again, Chara. I know she would take good care of you."
"I don't trust her anymore. I don't trust any of them." Chara looks away as he says, "Toriel tried to keep me trapped up in the ruins. Papyrus thought a little kindness could change everything. Undyne wanted to hurt me. Mettaton wanted to stop me. And Sans... Sans wants to kill me."
Frisk shook his head no, remembering his own journey through the underground before breaking the barrier. Everyone was so happy, and no one held any hate for the humans anymore. Everyone was living in peace. Mettaton got a job at a television show. Undyne and Alphys were happily dating. Toriel and Asgore talked about their mistakes and agreed to be friends for now... Sans and Papyrus are like his brothers. Together, they all made a family.
"I'm sure once they get to know you, they'll love you. You just have to show them that you'll be good." Chara looks at him with a look of doubt as he decides to help Frisk up to his feet. "You're not bad. I can see the good in you."
As the two walked back, hand in hand, Sans followed close behind them, ready to give Chara the bad time he knew the kid deserved. Frisk wouldn't be able to fight him if he needed to. Frisk didn't see the need to kill anyone, unlike him. That monster, the real monster, needed to be put down before he takes someone away from them.
"If you kill off my bro, prepare to get dunked on."
Meanwhile back in Alphys's lab...
"Oh man, what did I do wrong? It's supposed to be like a heat ray, so it should have been simple enough..." Alphys complained as she examined her experiment. "Why did it bring another Frisk here? And why is this one bad?"
As she continued to check her calculations, she placed down the machine before going back on her computer. As if she had forgotten, she remembered that she had hid cameras all over to watch Frisk when she heard he fell in. Deciding to see what the boys have been up to, she decided to check the cameras.
"Alphys is wrong about me being you from another timeline. I'm Chara, the first human to have fallen here..." Confused about what she heard, she decided to do some tests to see if what she heard is correct. Is it possible for Chara to be the first human? It can't be. That human was killed a long time ago, so they wouldn't have their soul now.
Chara, now that they mentioned it, the name sounded very familiar to her. Toriel did raise another child before Frisk along side sweet, little Asriel. That human, if she could recall, had past away due to some illness, and soon after Asriel was killed.
Knowing this was a difficult subject to bring up, Alphys felt it was necessary in order to know what exactly we're dealing with. With this in mind, she picked up her phone and decided to ask the one monster who raised him. She dialed Toriel.
Back with the boys...
"Come on, Chara. I have several striped shirts in the dresser you can borrow. We can't take you around with dust on you because you'll scare everyone." Frisk said as he pulled the other boy back into his room. "Change, so we can play with Papyrus and Sans."
Rolling his eyes, Chara said, "alright already. Geez, you're such a crybaby." With that, Chara removed his green shirt with a yellow stripe, along with his little heart pendant in exchange for another one with a similar design. Looking back at these shirts, Chara could remember each one that had belonged to him or Asriel at one point in time. He was never much into change, so he had always worn a shirt with the same pattern on it.
"What should I do with this?" Chara asked as he held up his shirt to Frisk. As Frisk took it from him, Chara picked up his heart pendant and placed it around his neck before following the other boy around.
Frisk placed the shirt in a hamper that would eventually be emptied when Toriel decides to do some laundry. As they were leaving, Papyrus grabbed Frisk and carried him on his shoulder, a smile on his face as he did so. Sans smiled up at them, but as he glanced over at Chara, he noticed something strange about him.
Chara had only glanced at the others as he noticed Toriel was speaking on the phone.
"Chara? What about the child?" He could tell that the goat wasn't too excitied to be speaking about him, but he could only guess why. "Chara was a lovely child, and was a good brother for Asriel... Of course not! The boy was harmless! Alphys, what was the point of this call?... CHARA IS GONE, AlPHYS! He died along time ago."
I'm back, mom. I came back. Those thoughts swirled through his mind as he realized how much Toriel had cared for him. But I'm not the kid you loved anymore.
"Kid, looks like you've left behind a mess when you left her. In your time, Toriel was the queen of the Underground, but now she can't even look at Asgore without being angry. That lady loved you, and you killed her without any mercy." Sans whispered as he walked besides Chara. "Let it be known to you now. Mercy is off the table for you. Kill one monster, and you're going to have a bad time."
Chara smirked at his comment as he said, "we'll see about that. Anything you do to me happens to Frisk, so will you really take that chance to hurt me? Face it. I'm untouchable."
"No one is untouchable. Frisk will never die by us. Everyone loves him, but you, on the other hand, are just a mindless murderer waiting to find some innocent soul to destroy."
Chuckling now, Chara couldn't help but say, "you are a funny comedian. You think that monsters and humans can be friends? It's impossible. Humans are monsters on the surface. They are cruel, evil, and show no mercy against their own kind. Monsters are the same way. They attack you for the sake of attacking. They kill you just for the fun of it. How can these species be friends?"
"If there's people like Frisk in the world, a difference can be made. Talking would be a great start to befriending a monster, but that won't work for the likes of you. You're nothing but true monster. Evil personified. You'll never be able to be happy until you see the whole world burn around you."
"Maybe you're right about that, comedian."--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
