Chapter 6: Roses

"I didn't mean to.." Eric said while running up to me. "Okay." I said pushing him back so he wouldn't get too close to me. "What do you mean?" Eric asked. "I'm only accepting this time. So let's stop being friends so you wouldn't hurt me anymore." I said as I gave him the card. "What?" Eric said as he read the card. "I wish I could tell you. But I can't." Eric said while taking a step closer to me. "Stop! Don't come closer!" I demanded him. "Y/n.." Eric said. "The bus is here. Don't talk to me again." I said as I got on the bus. I watched how he left. The next day I decided not to go to school. I wanted to spend time with my grandma and help her with gardening. "Let's make something for lunch!" I said as I took out some pots.
*Eric's POV*
Y/n didn't attend school today. I thought maybe I could skip lunch and go to her grandma's house. I entered as it was full of food scent. "Eric?" Halmoni questioned. "Why are you here? Aren't you supposed to be at school?" She asked me. I didn't want to get caught so I showed her the roses. She looked funny alright. Once I shut the door I decided to go in the garden and hide there. "Halmoni? Who came?" Y/n asked while chopping some vegetables. "Just the neighbor. They asked if they could borrow some bell peppers." Halmoni said to Y/N while setting the table. "Ready for some vegetable bibimbap?" Y/n asked. "Let's do three bowls! Save one for tomorrow for you." Halmoni said. "Um.. okay." Y/n said while putting some in a bowl. "ERIC! Come here!" Halmoni yelled. That was my cue. I came out from the garden. "Eric??" Y/n asked confusedly. "Here's some roses for you Y/n.." I said as I handed her the bouquet of roses. "What are you doing here? I told you not to speak to me again." Y/n said. "I'll be in the garden!" Halmoni said. "No. Halmoni! Let's eat." Y/n said politely smiling but soon gives me a death stare. Later on we were working in the garden. "You know why I chose roses to give you?" I asked Y/n. "No?" She replied. "Roses are beautiful, but once you touch them you get hurt if you land your hand on the thorns. That's how I describe you." I told her smiling while digging in the ground. "Interesting. I should hurt you more. You bully!" She yelled. "Yah!" I softly hit y/n but my button got caught in her shirt. We met eyes. "Yah!! Eric get off!" Y/n screamed. "What happened?! Oh." Halmoni said as she chuckled. "Nothing happened! My button just got caught in her shirt which it tugged me and I fell on her." I said as I went back to digging. "I'll put my bouquet of roses away." Y/n said as she walked away. It was just me and Halmoni. "Do you perhaps like Y/n?" She asked me out of the blue. "What!? No such thing! I don't like her.. like that.." I said nervously. "Just not yet?" Halmoni asked. "No, no. We're just.. friends." I said smiling. " I better get going." I said as I took off the gloves and washed my hands. "Don't forget to water your plants." I said as I smiled and walked out the gate door.
I decided to stay at the door for a while. I was going to leave but suddenly heard Y/n's voice. "Where's Eric?" Y/n said as she brought some fruits. "He left. Would you water the plants for me as I go get something in the house. "Sure!" Y/n said as she watered the plants. I thought I should leave so I went back to my house. I lived with my uncle because my parents were always working.
*Y/n's POV*
"I finished watering the plants!" I told my grandma. "Thank you! I'll pay you." Halmoni said. "No! Please don't. I already work at the cafe! I don't need anything." I told her denying the money. "Well then.. can you do me a favor and bring this to the next door neighbor?" Grandma suggested me to bring it over. So I did. "Hello? Is anyone home?" I said. The door opened and how did I forget that, this someone lived next door.
