"Can I show you something?" Lyria asked, looking over at the boy next to her.

"Sure," he replied, smiling at the little girl.

"You have to pinky promise that you'll never ever tell anyone about it," Lyria said, a serious expression overtaking her smile.

Xavier nodded and held out his hand, his pinky in the air. "I pinky promise to never ever tell anyone about what you show me." He smiled and Lyria smiled back, trusting him completely.

She closed her eyes, extending her arms in front of her, bending them slightly at the elbows and turning her hands so that her palms faced the sky. She brought them down slightly, palms still facing the sky, then inwards before lifting them up, moving them in a circle, her palms flipping over when they reached the top of the invisible circle.

Xavier watched in disbelief as the clear blue water rose up from the pond, extending up as if it were an arm before detaching completely, shaping itself into a circle.

Lyria turned her wrist so that her palms faced away from her body, then in a swift, powerful motion, pushed them outwards.

The ball of water flew backward, exploding in the air. Xavier gasped and looked between Lyria and where the water droplets fell back into the pond, his eyes wide and mouth slightly agape.

"Whoa, how'd you do that?" he asked.

Lyria shrugged. "Dunno. Kinda just figured it out," she admitted. She wasn't sure how exactly she had learned the skill but when her emotions ran wild, the elements would act up and if she concentrated hard enough, she could make them do things.

"That's so cool! Can you do other tricks?"

"Yeah but not really on purpose. When I'm really mad sometimes things happen like a window explodes or something catches on fire," Lyria explained. "I'm trying to learn though!"

Overtime, she gained more control over her magic and Xavier was right by her side as they explored an exciting new world of magic and mystery until the day she moved away.
