“HEY HYEJIN, wanna join us for lunch?” a girl offered. i smiled and nod my head in response. piling up all of my notebooks, i hurriedly stuffed it inside my bag.

just when i was supposed to leave, i noticed that chan doesn't have any plans to eat.

“hey chan, aren't you gonna eat?” i tapped his shoulder slightly. he only shook his head while looking outside the window.

what's wrong with this guy?

“if you're ever hungry, the cafeteria is downstairs” those were my last words before catching up with the a classmate of mine.

we were walking towards the cafeteria until she suddenly started talking, “chan's quiet right?” she blurted out. i nod my head.

“don't worry, he doesn't hate you, he hates people in general. just kidding. he's just really quiet but once you get to know him a little more, he's really fun to be with”

i stared at the person next to me, “uhm how come you know a lot about him?”

she chuckled and looked up then a wide grin was plastered on her face but soon disappeared.

“i was her girlfriend. we were a happy couple until he cheated on me” she forced a smile. i just mouthed an "oh" and continued walking.

as we entered the cafeteria, we were greeted by her friends. i distanced myself a little bit since i don't wanna seem like we're already close when i don't even know her name.

“hey jina, who is she?” one of her friends pointed at me. she looked back at me and smiled, “this is hyejin, she just transferred to our section. she'll be joining us today”

they only nod their heads and led the way to their regular table

THE LUNCHBREAK was no fun at all, hyejin felt like she was a total outcast. her friends kept on talking while she just continues to eat her food.

they head their way back to their classroom and jina still hasn't stopped talking about chan.

“and then there was this one time where we went to the beach and played until night came” hyejin only smiled and nod her head, she doesn't want to sound and look mean since she just invited her to lunch earlier.

but the first thing she noticed when she came in was another guy trying to pull chan from his seat.

“come on dude, you have to eat your lunch” he grunted, chan wasn't budging at all. chan only groaned and buried his face inside his arms making them his pillow.

“chan i know you're very very annoyed but this is for your own good. i don't want to see you inside an ambulance while wearing your school uniform. that only means that you fainted in school”

still he didn't budge.

“shouldn't we help him out?” hyejin asked jina who was busily applying power on her face. not waiting for her to be finished, hyejin made her way to her seat.

“chan i told you that the cafeteria is downstairs” she spoke that made chan's friend look at her.

kevin cocked his eyebrows towards her, “and you are?” hyejin looked back at the person next to chan. instead of answering him, she showed him one of her notebooks that had her name.

“chan fucking get up” hyejin was about to pull him up forcefully but then his head shot up and chan stared at her.

“don't act like you care, we're not even close” instead of being offended, hyejin raised an eyebrow to chan. she folded her arms in front of her chest.

“it's in my nature to worry about people chan and so if we're not close? i'm just caring about your well-being. just look at your friend pursuing you to eat, he's just trying to help now get your ass out of your chair and go to the cafeteria.”

hyejin waited for him to obey what she said. chan stared back at her, his eyes bore into hers. after some time, chan finally stood up and left kevin dumbfounded.

“thanks, i'll cuss at him just to get his ass off of his chair. by the way, kevin. nice meeting you hyejin and thanks for the big hand” he smiled which she returned back.

when she can no longer see chan and kevin's shadow, she sat on her chair tired. who would know that making chan stand up would be a whole lot of work.

how can kevin even tolerate chan?

“what did you say for chan to stand up?” it was jina. she had her eyebrows furrowed and hyejin can't seem to paint her face.

“what do you mean?” she can't help but ask.

“mostly, kevin couldn't pursue chan to stand just by talking or by force so he'd just bring food up here but you, you did it ever so effortlessly how?”

the tone of jina's voice was so surprised, her eyes held questions. hyejin just shrugged and rested her head on her desk, she's tired.

school is hella tiring fuck
