Raining Stars

Chapter 1

Glory POV 

Glory sighed as she tripped over yet another one of her royal guards. She knew her braindead bodyguard, Deathbringer, probably thought she wouldn't notice 20 more dragons following her ?around. "Sorry, Heliconia. I didn't see you there." Glory apologized. "Oh, it's fine, Your Majesty!" Heliconia said brightly. 

She told her to tell the other guards that they were all dismissed. "DEATHBRINGER!" she yelled. Deathbringer sidled up to her, oblivious to her anger. "Your Majesty? You called?" 

Glory sighed. Was he really that dumb? "Do you really think that I wouldn't notice the addition of 20 more guards? You must not think you can do job right. Do you WANT me to replace you?" she asked. 

 "Why, you would never replace me! Remember? I'm all-wonderful and all-handsome!" he said smugly.

 Glory growled, and her ears and wings started to shade a deep red. "Don't give me that stupid smug face," she said.

 That should have been his first warning sign. "This isn't my smug face, this is my heroic face!" he exclaimed. 

"Tell me why you are always following me and annoying me." Glory demanded. "I- I want to protect you," he said, glancing down at his talons. 

"No. Tell me THE TRUTH!" She yelled. Deathbringer, for once, was at a loss for words. But when he finally found his voice, what he said it wasn't at all what Glory expected to hear. 

"I love you..." he muttered. Glory stared at him in disbelief. "No way," she said.

 "But you know what? I don't know why I even thought of you as a friend. I HATE YOU, RAINWING! YOU ARE USELESS AND LAZY AND DUMB!!!" he bellowed. 

(A/N I was in tears as I wrote this) Glory was shocked. She looked at him with tears in her eyes. "I'm leaving." she said. "Goodbye. Grandeur can take care of the rainforest for a few days. I'm done." 

As Glory said this, a tear rolled down her cheek. Deathbringer clapped a talon over his mouth as he realized what he had just said. 

"Glory, I'm s-" but Glory cut him off. She was sick of sorries and excuses. He had hurt her, in a way that she was never able to imagine. 

Not even Kestrel and Dune ever said out loud that they hated her. She took off into the rainforest, silently sobbing.
