I looked up at the sailors surrounding me. They were close by but not crowding me. The seemed to be more entriged than afraid of me. They murmured amungst themselves and I could pick out bits a pecies of what they were saying
"Back to Spain...."
"...Buyers will go insane!"
"...Hidden below deck..."
"...Keep her wet?"
As they seemed to be getting more and more discracted I took the opportunity to attempt to get the net off of me. Some of them noticed my struggling and to my surprise, helped me to remove it. I looked at them with confusion. The captain pointed a finger at me and before I could move, they had stuffed something in my mouth and tied it to my head that kept me from being able to talk. I attempted to remove it but one of the sailors held my hands behind my back."Sorry for the inconvenience little lady."
This was the first time any of them had directly addressed me.
"But we can't have you using your magic on us and crashing our boat now can we? Especially when we have such a bounty waiting for us once we get back home to Spain."
He smirked at me and my stomach dropped and did a backflip as his words sunk in. I was now their prisoner and they intended to sell me. How do I always manage to get myself into situations like this?! I glared my disapproval at him but he seemed undeterred.
"We need a name for you though..." he said more to himself than to me. He then examined me again. He recegnised the color scheme of my tail to be much like a lotus flower. My purple-pink eyes further implied that sentiment. My sea-shell bra adorned my chest and blessed me with modesty. It was pearl colored as was my fair skin.
"I think lotus pearl would suit you nicely." He said. I almost chuckled. He had actually managed to guess my real name. I always knew humans were smart.
"Mates!" He called attention the rest of the crew and they immediately souluted and stood to attention.
"Bring lotus pearl below deck and put her in the live tank. We need her alive and from the looks of it the sun isn't sitting to well with her."
Yet again, he was right. My scales had started to sting from the dryness and the feeling of dry skin crawled all over me like a thousand tiny crabs. It was almost a relief when one of the larger crew members picked me up and carried me down below deck. It was dark but I didn't really mind. He put me into a small enclosed pool. I had several rarer fish swimming around inside it and I realised this was what they used to store cargo they intended to keep alive.
'Ok so they're not going to kill me. That's a start at least.' I thought to myself. There was hardly enough room in the tank for me to sit comfortablely, let alone swim around in. These sailors were clearly more used to carrying smaller cargo. Being bored out of my mind and rather frightened if I'm being honest, I did the only thing I could think of to do; sleep.
