After she finished gathering all the necessary books for first period, Evelyn closed the locker door quietly, not wanting to make any sound to attract anyone's attention. She quickly adjusted her backpack and proceeded to head to class; English Literature.

It was actually one of her favorite classes this year as she loved to write. It gives her the ability to portray her emotions through all her imaginary characters. In a way, it makes up for her lack of emotional expressions in real life.

While thinking of a possible plot for another story she's planning to write, she accidentally bumped into someone causing her to stumble backwards a little. Evelyn scolded herself mentally for being so absent-minded and was ready to apologize to whoever that's so unlucky to have encountered her, but when she looked up, she froze.

"Jesus fucking Christ! God damnit!"

Evelyn gasped slightly as she had never heard that many curse words in a sentence before and also because out of all the people she could've walked into, she just had to bump into Zach Thompson, probably one of the school's most popular kids.

He had a can of soda gripped tightly on his left hand and a large red stain on his white t-shirt. His eyes were looking down on the mess Evelyn had made and then looked up to glare at her with his green eyes.

Oh no, Evelyn thought. It was fine if it caused only her trouble but why did she have to be so clumsy to cause trouble for others too?

"I'm sorry," she said genuinely.

"If sorry could fix everything in the world, laws wouldn't even exist. You should've watched where you're going," he snapped, eyes still piercing Evelyn's brown ones.

"I'm really sorry," she said again, this time quieter, and casted her eyes down when she couldn't take him angrily glaring at her anymore.

"I just said that sorry isn't gonna fix anything but you did it again! The nerve of you woman!" he shouted, earning a few curious looks and a small crowd had already formed around them.

So much for not attracting any attention. Good job, Evelyn. Good job. Thinking that staying silent and letting him vent out all his anger on her will make him feel better, Evelyn only looked down and kept quiet. But not only did her silence not ease Zach's anger one bit, it fueled it even more.

"Damn you!" he cursed before stepping forward ready to grab her. Evelyn just shut her eyes close and braced herself for the blow on her face or something. Well, she was the one who had gotten herself into this anyway.

Before Zach could reach the trembling girl before him, he was stopped by his friend beside him.

"Zach, stop it. You're scaring her," Jackson said quietly, but loud enough for Zach to hear it.

Zach turned to his friend, eyes glaring at Jackson this time. "Didn't you see that she bumped into me? For fuck's sake, I just bought this shirt and now it's ruined. All because of her!" he shouted, pointing at Evelyn, whose head was down low, still not daring to face Zach's wrath.

Jackson only sighed and walked next to Evelyn, which surprised her, and tapped her right shoulder. She curiously looked up to meet Jackson's eyes.

"Class is about to start. You should get going," he said, shocking both Evelyn and Zach.

"But—"
