Into the Unknown Part 2

In the family home, on the war-torn planet of Zethos, a lone woman walked through door after door until she was finally confronted by the father of her children.

"They're gone Ni'anya! There's nothing either of us can do now." Angrily, she slapped Nijolav across the face. She was about to go for a second round when she was stopped by Nijolav's own hand. She turned to look out the window into the distance. Lightning rained down on the battlefields in the distance.

"Nijolav, I have a request. I am dying, and I need to know my children will survive."

"They will, you have my word." It was the last conversation Darius and Dorea's parents would have with one another. The training camp was tough for the both of them. Dorea's intelligence landed her in the tactical division while Darius became a pilot. Darius flew mission after mission completing each one with a perfect kill rate. No one could touch him. Dorea was also very successful in her endeavors. One day a strike occurred on Zethos. The Yonosians had infiltrated Zethos. They came storming into the command center. Dorea was the only one there to think quickly. She grabbed the closest laser pistol, and shot every one of those bird-like Yonosians that she could. She single-handedly shot nineteen of her enemies. Everyone she shot mattered except the one that got the drop on her. As she turned around that bird man shot her in the head. She woke up days later, the only survivor of the catastrophe. Nijolav, her father, was there at her bedside.

"Father? Where's mother?"

"She died two days ago." Unable to say anything else, he left. His grief stopped him from saying anything more to his daughter. Most importantly it stopped him from telling her how proud he was of her. Days later, she went to go back to work only to be told she was no longer welcome there. Her injuries had made her incapable of remaining in the military. Unable to go back to her work and unable to return home, Dorea left to find a new life. Later that year, Darius's time as a pilot was over. The war had finished and Zethos was victorious. Now he had to return home, and so he had to walk through the door of a now empty family mansion. A family friend came days later to inform him of his mother's death and his sister's self-imposed exile.

"So, where is my father?"

"Your father has returned to service as a General in the invasion force. He prepares for the next war." His friend left shortly after that. This news infuriated Darius, so he ran to the family shipyard where he chose to steal a fighter pod. He then flew on a new mission. He was to take down the industry that destroyed his family. He took down three buildings before he was noticed. It was Nijolav that was called in to take care of the situation.

"Sir, we have to do something."

"Do we have an ID of the pilot?" Another person asked. Nijolav stepped forward.

"I don't need it. I know who's in there."

"Sir, we have to do something." Nijolav just stared off into space. "Sir!" Nijolav nodded.

"Go ahead. Shoot down my son."

"But sir!" Angrily Nijolav turned.

"Just do it!" The next day Darius awoke a prisoner in his own house with two guards stationed outside his door. Ayesha walked up to Dorea.

"What is that?"

"Oh, it's my father's journal. What's up?"

"Darius is missing."

"We need to find him. He needs to see this."
