Into the Unknown

Part 4

The yearly trip away from home always seemed tough. Five kids each with distinct personalities tended to make it all the tougher, but that was what happened for the Count and his family. Back then he went by a different name, but it had been so long ago that even the Count had forgotten it. They were now returning to the mining planet of M'Japor when it happened. Just as they were entering the atmosphere, the core ignited. The planet exploded from within, and this sent their little ship spiraling out of control. The Count was the first to wake up and he immediately ran to the back. All five kids were undergoing some kind of change and his wife The Countess lay buried under some rubble. She didn't make it. As he looked to the monitor, he saw the perpetrators. They were in an all crystalline ship which was leaving the area.

"Shadow Wraiths, I should have known. The Count realized that he was lucky to have gotten away from those horrifying creatures. It was then that he looked back to his offspring to see they were not only awake, but also terrified. Immediately he set a course for Draconis. It took weeks for him to get there, but it wasn't like there was any other option. Arrival at the villa on Draconis was bittersweet as their first order of business was to put the Countess to rest. The events placed the Count in a sort of catatonic state. He wasn't really there for his kids, and as a result they sort of raised each other. He watched as they got older, and as they developed strange abilities. Worse than that he got to watch as they turned mean, and eventually they all left Draconis and the Count.

Rumors spread to the Count of the horrible deeds occurring throughout the cosmos. Eventually things became so bad that the Count was forced to intervene. He left Draconis, but he knew he would return. Aron was the first he had to hunt down. he found him on a planet rife with volcanic activity. He called this child the bull for a very good reason as his anger always raged out of control, and he used this anger as a means to encase him within the stone. It was here that the Count realized he was unable to destroy his own children. Velyon had to be imprisoned within a blast resistant compound, and Lomira at the bottom of an ocean of ice on a planet of ice. Norcoze, the green flame was the most resistant, but in the end, he was trapped as well. The Count had placed him within the caverns of flame.

At this point, the Count had one child remaining and his eldest child would not be so easily brought down. The two of them fought relentlessly. Neither parent nor child ever truly gained the upper hand. It was clear that Zargoth resented the Count for the death of his mother, and that he felt that the Count had turned his back on them. The battle lasted for days, and in the end the planet they fought on was obliterated. It was due to the stress of the battle they fought. The explosion of the planet caused a sort of transference from son to father. The Count regained consciousness, but Zargoth didn't. The Count took him to Vocnor where he placed him in a recuperation pod. When he returned to Draconis, the Count was different. He felt a darkness had crept into his soul.
