Chapter 2 - Birthday

I wake up and look at the ceiling for a while before a smile came on my face, i stand up on my bed and scream,

" IT'S MY BIRTHDAY TODAY' I'M 16 WOOHOO ! ! ! ! ! "

I jump of my bed, run down the stairs and into the kitchen were my Nan is there with my birthday breakfast, hmm ... eggs, bacon, French toast, beans, mushroom and a cup of tea lovely. I walk up to my Nan, she gives me a hug and a kiss.

" Happy birthday Ashlie, here you go" she gives me my birthday cards and a thin box, giving the box a shake i hear nothing, i sit at the table and open my card, after i stand the card up on the table i turn my attention to the box i rip of the wrapping paper, lifting the lid and i pull out a peace of paper and a card.

Unfolding the paper i begin to read the letter ...

Thank you for you application for the X factor, we would be happy if you could come down for an audition, on Wednesday 8th October, at 10am.

Please bring with you the badges that came in the envelope, also please have with you the music to the song you will be auditioning with, hope to see you soon.

I put the letter down and look at Nan

" What's this about Nan, i haven't applied for anything"

" No but i did, you have a great voice, so i did it for you"

" I'm not that good Nan, and i haven't sang in a while, how do you know i can still do it like i used to"

Its true i used to sing all the time, my mum would ask me to sing for her while she did the cleaning around the house and when she died i stopped singing i felt like it wasn't right to sing when my mum wasn't there.

" You can do it Ashlie, you mum believed in you and so do i, you love singing and you cant stop everything just because of what happen, think about it yeah, do it for your mum, think how happy she would be if she was here with you" she smile at me

" Yeah she would be happy, but it doesn't feel right singing without her, she was always there when i sang"

" Are you wearing the locket she gave you"

I take the locket out from under my T-shirt and show her

" Yep its here, i never take it of"

" And why don't you take it off" she smiles at me like she knew what i was gonna say

" Cos it makes me feel like she's still with me, i feel like I'm missing something if I'm not wearing it "

" There you go, you have just answered your own question, as long as you wear the locket you mum will always be with you no matter how far away from home you are, you will always have a bit of her with you "

I look at her, then back at the letter, i re-read it again and again. I hold my locket in my hand, then i know what i have to do.

" Okay, I'm gonna do it, for mum she wold have wanted me to, and i love singing anyway" my nan started jumping up and down laughing and crying at the same time she came towards me and gave me another hug.

" Oh your mum will be so proud of you, and don't worry i will come with you when you go "

" okay thanks Nan for everything" she smiles then gives me my plate with my breakfast on.

After breakfast i go up stairs, have a shower, get changed, then i lie on my bed and think about a song i would do. I must have been in my room for a while cos the next thing i know my phone is ringing, picking it up and looking at it, its says it almost 12 o clock, and that Dina is calling me pressing answer, putting it do my ear.
