Charlie sat in his chair, tapping his foot, trying not to think about his chest. He finally had it when he got up and speed-walked to the bathroom, where he grabbed some bandages and tied them around his chest so they would look flatter.
(AN: please don't do this if you have gender dysphoria. Never use ace bandages. Its terrible for your chest and could damage your rib cage, so please buy a binder if you can.)
He's pleased with the result and walks out of the bathroom.
He bumps into Penelope and smiles.
"Darling! What-what happened to your chest, dear?"
"Oh, don't worry about it. Hey, how about I take you to go shopping?"
"But you hate shopping." Penelope stated blankly.
"Yeah but you love it. So I was just wondering if you wanted to."
"OK...." Penelope agreed suspiciously.
They spend the whole day together, shopping, talking to each other. The two couldnt get enough of it. Both of them were having such a great time, to both Charlie's and Penelope's suprise.
Their time is paused when to town bell range, and everyone was ordered to meet at the center of the town. Charlie and Penelope looked at each other concerned, and walked together to the center.
They arrive and are greeted with a small crowd, mostly because its raining now, and the reason for being there in the first place is gruesome, and horrid and didn't want their children to see. The two saw William Stoughton standing next to the stake at the center of the town, and tied to it, was Brigit Bishop, and she was crying. Charlie knew what was happening, but Penelope looked up at him with a confused look on her face. Soon, William started speaking.
"Good evening everyone. As you know, my name is William Stoughton. And this, is Brigit Bishop, she has committed an unspeakable crime. Witchcraft." He finished.
There were gasps that came out of some of the locals, and there were harsh whispers about the girl tied to the stake, not far from them.
Charlie knows Brigit, shes a witch like him. What shocked Charlie was that she was extremely careful not to let anyone other than witches know she was a witch. He wondered how she was found out.
"As you know, committing to witchcraft is one of the worse crimes you can submit yourself to. To think that this lovely young lady is a devil worshiper." William scoffs at the though.
"THATS NOT HOW IT WORKS!" Brigit screamed.
"WE DONT WORSHIP HIM, I DONT EVEN BELIEVE IN HIM!" Brigit was crying senselessly.
"What do you mean 'we'?"
Brigit stopped crying. She didn't realize she said we.
Charlies eyes widened when she said that. Penelope was starting to freak out, too. She looked up at Charlie with a worried look on her face.
Brigit noticed Charlie and mouthed 'Im sorry.'
"N-No! There are other witches outside of town, as far as I'm aware of, there aren't any in Salem." She pleaded.
William began to light a torch, and Brigit was starting to cry, and scream about her inevitable end.
Then, William said something to Brigit that would send chills down everyones spine.
"Devil worshipers don't get to live, let alone plee."
He then lit the stake on fire, as it slowly worked its way up to Brigit.
Penelope latched onto Charlie, not wanting to look. But Charlie couldn't look away, as his old friend was currently being burned alive.
Charlie knew something bad was going to happen, but he could never predict this.
