Emilie used to be an easy going girl who believed all is swell, and always wanted a less boring life. She later had that leading towards having one parent, a dog, one messed up brother, falling grades, moving in with and annoying neighbor who seems cute, and making a new bestie. She isn't the normal teenage girl she looks like sunshine and rainbows as a cover, but her book is filled differently, she is going through depression with her friends, food, and XXXTentacion's music to help her through it. She doesn't have the best relationship with her older twin brother Rye, with what happened, he now shuts out everyone and hates the world, she tries to help him but won't listen, and has once hit her, but he is her brother, and she won't give up on him. Her goal is get somewhere in life, whether she does good or bad to get there.
Bryan

Bryan lives below Emilie in their apartment complex, he strives to get her attention, and gets joy from knowing he is annoying her. He gets pretty good grades, is on the school's baseball team, and does track afterwards, he is one of the hottest boys in the school, making him pretty popular. But even the prettiest covers have different writings, everyone has secrets, and so does he, find out what they are in the series. He was also assigned to show Emilie around her new school, sadly having her same exact schedule. He starts noticing how her smiles aren't always genuine, and is planning to do something about it. He thinks Emile is kind of cute.
Rye

Rye is Emilie's older twin brother who was part of the reason for why they now have one parent. He is now always moody, yells at Emilie for the smallest things, never does anything, and is just mad at the world. He is the schools new flunker, who fails every class, not because he sucks, he just doesn't want to do it anymore, he wants to graduate, but doesn't want to put the work into it in order to do so. He normally hides in his room with the door locked and barely speaks to Emilie anymore, despite them being twins. He agrees with Emilie on one thing though, that Bryan is super annoying, but he secretly thinks Bryan and Emilie would be a cute couple.
Nena

Nena is Emilie's bestie who is out to destroy anyone who dares cross her, or hurt Emilie. She knows what is happening to Emilie currently, and has sworn to help her get through it, whatever the cost may be. She completely ships Emilie with Byran, but doesn't tell her, and has a secret crush on Rye, but doesn't like how moody he has become, so started to ignore him more. Nena herself has a rough past, but used food and memes to get through it all, she didn't think that she would ever have to deal with depression again, until she met Emilie, and saw through her mask of smiles, she loves Emilie and will protect her with her life. Is super flexible and has taken self defense classes for private reasons, don't mess with her.
