" Dad, I have some errands to run so I will stay back here." Lia made up her mind about Damien's phone call. During her lunch, with her father, she could only think about Damien's voice. His dark and sexy accent. She had always enjoyed their long conversations over the phone while he played with his team around Europe. How much she missed his quirky letters and souvenirs from the places he visited. She had hauled them all into a cardboard box and kept it in the corner the closet out of her eyesight. "Okay, but come back home before dinner alright I am going to make the best barbecue brisket you have ever tasted." Her father waved her goodbye as he walked towards his car. She called back to that unknown number which now belongs to Damien, a woman's voice surprised her. "Hello, Mr. Korealis is currently in a meeting. I am his secretary, May I know who is calling?" Hesitantly Lia replied. " I am Rosalia Haynes, Damien had called me." His secretary's voice turned husky " Miss Haynes, Can I take a message for Mr. Korealis?"
"Yes, Could you tell him to come and meet me in Cafe Red Door, in Greenwich Market in the next hour?" "Yes, of course. Will that be all Miss Haynes?" "Yes, Thank You. ""Have a nice day Miss Haynes. " She replied as Lia cuts the call. Damien in a meeting? Perhaps he finally decided to take over his family's business? The only thing Korealis Ltd. have a global telecommunications business empire throughout the last decade.
Damien managed to get an MBA degree from Harvard while training to be one of the best football players in the world. He had always fascinated her. At first impression, he seemed like a spoiled brat and an obvious playboy which was half his fault considering the number of girls chased him around in her high school. He always had a cool expression. She never had a chance with a guy like him. Lia always preferred books but stereotypically she was not much of a dork as others thought of her until she showcased her ability on the football field against Alex. That was the first time she went out of her way to help her best friend. She remembered how all the boys looked at her when she scored a goal against the best players in their high school. Being the daughter of a football fanatic she was acquainted with all the football knowledge her father had taught her. That was the first time she had spoken to Damien when she was searching for her assignment book in her locker. " I don't think we have met before. I am Damien and you are? " as he extended his hand towards her. " I am Rosalia, Sorry for what happened on the field I did not want to create such a scene while you guys were practicing." Damien gave her his devilish smile and leaned in.
" Don't be, It was quite a surprise to see a junior giving a hard time to the best players in our team. You are an interesting girl, Rose." Lia had blushed at that simple comment which had made her heart skip a beat for the first time in her life. " I am running late for my Biology class. Bye Damien." She had turned and went straight towards the Biology lab. Somehow during that same week, she kept running into Damien and they had formed a mutual friendship along the way. On her deal, Alex proposed to her best friend Samantha for Prom and she was asked by her lab partner Jasper.
.....
A movement outside the window of the cafe caught her attention. It was Damien. He looked every bit as handsome as he used to three years before. He is wearing a crisp charcoal grey tailored suit with a black shirt. She quickly turned her gaze back to her phone screen to show her unawareness of his presence.
