“What do you mean Melody?” I asked her tightening my grip on Natsu’s arm. My mind could hardly process it. “Nothing is going to help at this hospital. What Natsu has is W. S., a deadly disease cast on him” she said. She looked at Natsu. “You’re not going to get better”

“So the disease can kill him?” I asked.

“Will, but don’t worry. Everyone at Fairy Tail is going to try and find the cure. The guild’s got your back” Melody said with a small smile. I could tell she was also trying to reassure herself. I looked at Natsu. He had a serious expression and was looking down. Thinking. Natsu’s thinking. I pressed my forehead to his arm. Why is this happening to Natsu? Why him? I felt an arm wrap around me. This isn’t fair! I felt my tears getting happier. Is it me? I am cursed with bad luck. I felt myself being pulled closer to Natsu. I buried my face into his chest. I felt him bury his face into my hair. Comfort. “The guild will find that cure. We won’t be in this mess. I won’t die” Natsu breathed. I nodded. Natsu was one of the strongest dragon slayers or is the strongest? He beat Gajeel, Laxus, and Cobra (note this is before Eldoas arc). And Wendy doesn’t count. Maybe Wendy could help. No, Wendy’s not very strong. She might hurt herself. I bit my lip. What if we can’t find the cure?

Stop listening to music.

I walked back into the guild. Me, Lucy, Erza, Grey, and Gajeel (I forced Gajeel to come) had traveled all the way down to the Far East corner of Earth land. We couldn’t find a trace of that stupid cure. I sat down at the bar counter. Mira was washing cups. “One coke,” I said to her, handing her a bag of jewel. She gave a smile.

“Glad to see you back!” she said handing me the drink. I nodded. I looked around. No sign of Anna or Natsu. Must be at his house. He must be worse than he was a month ago, when I last saw him. Then he was able to go to the guild, but coughed a lot. Anna would stick real close to him to make sure he wouldn’t lose balance. That was because two days after we got out the hospital he lost balance all of a sudden and scared the living shit out of everyone. It was like all of a sudden, he collapsed! After that little incident, Anna didn’t ever leave his side, ever! I think she’s blaming herself. That and the fact that she’s his fiancée. I sighed. I took a sip of coke; at least there are some good things to enjoy. I finished the coke and left the guild. I can’t give up. I have to keep searching. My cousin is young and alive. He’s got a full future. I will find that damn cure, no matter what!

Anna P.O.V.

“Can you go give this to Natsu?” I asked Happy. I was cleaning up from cooking. I was keeping Natsu in bed. He had heavy breathing and a headache this morning. Happy took the food. He flew away. I sighed. My breathing is also heavy and my nose is stuffed. Maybe I should get a humidifier?

“Anna! The world’s gonna end! Natsu’s NOT hungry!” Happy cried, flying towards me at full speed. I laughed.

“Silly kitty. The world’s not going to end. Natsu has a migraine, and when you have a migraine you don’t feel like eating!” Happy’s eyes widened.

“Migraine! You only get migraines when you over-think!” Happy said.

“Natsu has a lot on his mind”

Happy looked shocked.

“NATSU WAS THINKING?” Happy shouted.

I giggled. “Yes, now stop yelling” I said sternly. “There’s something terribly wrong with my best friend,” Happy said to himself. I tried not to laugh. Happy’s too cute. Well, Natsu did raise him. But so did the guild. I sat down in a chair. My strawberry curls were tied back in a cute pony tail. I was wearing the same aqua blue dress that I was wearing the day I met Natsu and joined Fairy Tail. That was the reason it was my favorite. I stood up. I should get some new clothes. I looked over at Natsu. I can’t leave him right now. Maybe when he feels better we can go together. He does have some pretty good fashion sense. For a guy, I mean the color contrast between the black and white is awesome. I have never met anyone like Natsu. I guess that’s why I love him so much. He’s unique. Some say, special. Although he’s two kinds of special. Very, very “Special”. I laughed at the thought. I sat down. Very special.

“Natsu?” I asked, shifting in the bed to face him. His breathing was heavy. Too heavy. “Natsu? Natsu what’s wrong?” I asked, shaking him. His eyes opened. He was gasping for breath. “What’s wrong?” He looked at me. He was trying to say something, but all that came out was wheezing. He couldn’t breathe. I shot up into sitting position and lifted him into a leaning position. His breathing was still heavy. “Hold on Natsu” I said, getting up and slowly walking to the counter, were my I phone was. I called up emergency help. While I was talking to an operator, Happy had woken up. He was at Natsu’s side. As soon as the operator hung up, I speed walked back to Natsu. He was in an upright position. I noticed taking deeper breaths. His breathing was getting worse.

Natsu’s eyes rolled to the back of his head as he fell into unconsciousness. By this point he was making loud noises as he tried to breathe. Where’s the ambulance? His breathing was starting to go slow, and was stopping. I placed my hands on his chest. CPR. That’s what the operator said to do if his breathing stopped.

I was short of breath. My arms hurt. I heard noises. Finally. The doors burst open and paramedics rushed in. the pushed me away doing an exam quickly. They carried him out on a stretcher. Happy and I followed them into the vehicle. I’m glad he’s unconscious for this. A paramedic continued CPR as we were driven to Magnolia hospital. This is it. The ride of Hell. We pulled up to the emergency room ambulance section. Doctors were already waiting. Because Natsu wasn’t breathing the second we stepped in the hospital they were already on crash cart procedure, sticking the tube down his throat, connected to a yellow pump. Happy and I were pushed out of the room and escorted to the waiting room.

Wall. Blue & white. I just stared at it. Waiting. Bypass. 2 hours. Dead. Natsu. Happy was sitting on my lap, snuggling up in my shirt as he cried.

Flash back

“Clear!”

Electricity surged through. I held Happy in my arms. Watching. Losing him. Watching this. Doctors, trying to revive him. My fiancé, the person who raised Happy. This is the stuff you see in movies. But now it’s reality, Natsu, Happy and mine. I closed my eyes. The questions running through my mind. What kind of movie is this? A happy or sad one? What type of ending would play out?

End of flash back

I heard someone rush in. I turned my head to see a worried and scared to death Meldy. “I found it!” she cried, waving around a plant. I shot up. We ran towards the small room where Natsu was. He wasn’t on bypass. They were removing the crash cart. The machine, as I could tell, wasn’t in session. Did we make it in time?

Anna P.O.V

My heart stopped. No… he couldn’t be… he just couldn’t. I was pushed out of the way by a doctor. He plugged something into the wall. The machine started going. Beep Beep Beep. I sighed with relief. For a moment I thought he was…. Dead. “*cough* were *cough* am I? *cough cough*” Natsu said, his eyes flickering open. Awake. Alive. “Can you breathe better?” I asked him. He nodded, sitting up. “Hey Natsu, you jerk! You died on us again even though I got that cure for you” Meldy huffed, walking up to him and placing the plant in front of him. He grinned. “So what are you supposed to do with it?” he asked, picking up the plant and sniffing it. “Eat it” Meldy said, rolling her eyes as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. He took a bite. Chewing. Shoved the whole thing in his mouth. I giggled slightly. Suddenly he started glowing. Then a bright blinding light. Once it died down he looked better than he ever did. He was smiling and jumped up out of the bed and hopped around. I joined him. Soon Happy came in the room and started flying around us. “You guys are idiots” Meldy said. “Whatcha say Mel?” Natsu said, knocking his head to Meldy’s, inching to fight. “Join us Meldy!” I said, dancing around the room stupidly. “What the heck” she said, throwing her hands up and joining us. What a night.
