Chapter 2. Forget the Pony, I Want a Sword!

I awoke to someone shaking my shoulder. I slowly opened my eyes to see a bright green set of eyes staring back at me.

"What do you want." I asked the awaiting Blade, who was standing in front of me.

"Your dad asked me to wake you."

"Ugh." I groaned closing my eyes again. I don't know what time it is, but it's too early to be waking up.

"If you ever want to know what the treasure we'll be after is, I suggest you get up." I heard dad call from the other room.

"I could pour some water on her if you'd like." Even without looking at Blade, I knew he was smirking.

I sat up and stuck my tongue out at him, but he just continued smirking and walked away.

Our hotel room had a small kitchen, which is where my Mom, Dad, and Blade where. As I walked in, my mom set a plate a bacon and eggs on a small table on the side of the room.

I sat down and started eating, Dad immediately started talking. "So I won't keep you all in suspense, our next treasure hunt is finding the lost treasure of François L'Olonnais."

I frowned. The name sounded familiar, but I couldn't figure out why. Then I remembered.

"Isn't he the pirate who ate some guy's heart?" I asked, taking a sip of orange juice.

"Yep. A local fisherman pulled a sword out of the lake a few months ago and turned it in to the museum where it was soon discovered that the sword used to be François L'Olonnais'." Mom informed us, leaning forward on her elbows eagerly.

"After close examination, a strange symbol was found on the hilt of the sword and after a couple hours of research, they discovered it meant 'Treasure'." Dad added.

I grinned eagerly, my breakfast forgotten. "So we are looking for a Cannibal pirate's treasure?"

They grinned and nodded at me. I squealed and turned excitedly to Blade who was smiling.

"We are going to the museum tonight to check out the sword." Mom told us. "And there's a dress code, so no jeans, Aurora."

I groaned and looked back down at my breakfast. I took a bite of eggs and scrunched my nose up in disgust.

"Well, I know who made the eggs." I muttered, throwing a sideways look at mom. Blade chuckled next to me and I smiled softly.

After breakfast, we went to the small living room and switched on the tv. We watched tv for awhile until it was time to go to the museum. Mom stole me off from the couch and carried me to her bedroom to get ready.

"So....Blade's a hottie." She told me casually as I pulled up the red dress I carry around with me.

I started choking when she said that and instead of coming to help me, she started to laugh. Once I could breathe normally, I stuck my head around the divider where I was changing and glared at her.

"Mother!" I exclaimed, "Don't talk that way!"

"What way?" She asked innocently, "I'm just stating fact."

I rolled my eyes and resumed changing.

"Do you not agree with me?" She asked it in a way that told me she already knew the answer.

"Of course I agree with you!" I sighed, emerging from behind the divider.

"Good. I think he's a very nice boy. And you two would totally make an adorable couple." She informed me. I sat down in the chair in front of the mirror and she quickly hurried over to start on my hair, as I reluctantly put on make up.
