"You know about prophecy's in our world?" The Alpha asked when we were seated in his office.
"Yes, I do." He stood up from his chair and took a bundle of papers from one of his drawers.
"In this file there are a bunch of prophecy's oracles in this pack have made. This is a prophecy our last oracle made right after the werecats went extinct. She died a few days after."
He gave me the file.
"Here, read it."
And so I did.
Three who will unite
One the revival of a species
One a child of the moon herself
And one broken now made
United a force like no other
Separated lost and confused
For a killer will become a lover to one
Another one will be no more forever
And the last will find the impossible
An evil no one knew yet everyone knows
If defeated everyone will live
If lost no one will remain the same.
I didn't understand anything except for the second line. The revival of a species.
That line was about me...
I don't know for how long I was standing there. Who else would it be? The revival of a species. I am the revival of a species, the last living werecat!
"How long ago was this prophecy made?" I asked with a small voice. The shock was clearly visible from my face.
"When the last werecat died, that was 24 years ago." The Alpha answered.
"But I wasn't even born back then! I'm only 18!" If this was true, then what did it mean for me?
"You were chosen for this. Everyone knew that one day there would be a new werecat among us, only we didn't know how. Now we do. That witch must have had the DNA of a werecat to create a potion to turn you and you must have had even the tiniest bit of werecat DNA in you already otherwise it would have been impossible to turn a full human into a werecat. Otherwise it would have been impossible for you to change. We guess that because you changed into a jaguar one of your ancestors must have been one." My family was a bunch of werecats?
"Wait," Something in my mind suddenly clicked. "How long ago would this werecat have been a part of my family? And would it be possible to know if it came from my mothers or fathers side?"
"Your mothers side, the gene transfers only to the children with the same gender as the parent. For example if a female vampire and a male werewolf mate then al the daughters would be vampire and the sons would be werewolf. So my guess would be that you grandmother on your mother's side would have been a werecat, but because your grandfather must have been a human, none of their children could be anything supernatural." It al made sense! I remember now! How could I forget?
"It was my grandmother, she had already died before I was born. But my grandfather always told me stories about her. He died when I was six and I forgot about everything he used to tell me." At this the Alpha's interest seemed to rise.
"Your grandfather knew?" He asked.
"I think he knew all about the supernatural. He always used to warn me that the real monsters often looked just like us. He told me stories about mythical creatures and how they lived. Now I realize they weren't just stories, it was the truth. He basically told me everything I had to know about the supernatural." Why had I been so blind to this?
"Your grandfather, do you know anything about his family? How he met your grandmother? It is very unique for a werecat to settle with anyone, especially someone who is not their kind. Werecats didn't mingle with other species."
"I don't remember everything he told me, but I think they met when my grandfather went on a hiking trip..." Damn, it really was obvious! He always told me he found my grandmother in the woods while she was wounded and he helped her and that's how they later fell in love.
"Would you be fine with it if we looked up some information about your grandparents?"
"That's fine by me." There was no harm in knowing who my grandparents actually were. Did my mom know about my grandmother? What if she did? There would be a possibility that she knows what happened to me? That she somehow guessed that I changed into a werecat, just like grandmother? "Could you also check how my family is doing? I haven't seen them since I left." The guilt I felt when I had to leave never disappeared. I kept telling myself that it was for their safety, but if my grandmother had been a werecat and she had lived a normal life then why couldn't I do the same?
"Don't worry we will see how they are doing. You know that if they would be open to it they are always welcome her. But first you would have to tell them what happened, that could be a big shock to them. But there is always a chance your grandmother told your mother about our world." This was a bit to much at once. What if mom could have helped me? What if she knew?
The Alpha seemed to realize that my head was working in overdrive.
"Why don't you go to sleep, I'm sure you had a very tiring day, Aisla. Tomorrow will be another long day." He was right, tomorrow I would get more answers from ralph and I was going to train with Faye.
"I think that's a good idea. Good night, Alpha."
"My name is Bodolf, you don't need to call me Alpha. A werecat like you stands above those titles." I nodded. "Goodnight Aisla." I made my way out his office and towards my bedroom without actually realizing what I was doing. I was indeed very tired. And before I knew I dropped down on my bed and fell into a dreamless sleep.
