Fake Internet Girlfriend

CHAPTER 4

Seconds, minutes, hours, days and weeks had passed; my life is still boring as it was. Nothing good or exciting, it's just same old. I just got accepted to work in a library for the mean time. Anyway, I liked going to the library. I can read free books, it's quiet, I can take a nap, I can eat secretly, I can listen to my music, I can write freely and I can do whatever I liked. Sometimes, Sab visits me and we read books together and have lunch at some restaurant and talk like we've never seen each other in a long time. The library I work at have only 3 workers, sometimes the owner comes but he rarely does. It's just me, Jane and Brad, my colleagues. I love working with those two, they keep me company and we do everything almost together. When we don't have anything to do and no one's at the library, we play games, chat, eat and watch movies from the laptop. It is our way of enjoying ourselves. Jane is a year older than I am and Brad is the same age as I am.

Sometimes, Jane and Brad can be a little protective of me, like when guys tend to flirt with me, they come to my rescue. The guys just leaves and we laugh.

~BRAD'S POV~

It's been weeks since Sophia worked in the library. Jane and I are just glad that we have someone new because it gets pretty boring when there's only two people working in a library. I love the library but sometimes, it gets boring. Only a few people come and read. Mostly, they'd rather go to the internet shop and look everything up on the internet. Kids these days or even people these days, they're too lazy to read books.

Today is Friday, my mom's birthday, I asked a day off from work to help prepare at home but I still invited Brad and Sophia to come to our house. Of course, Sab, Kim, Savannah and Luke are coming too. I don't have many friends; I just like to keep a few. The birthday dinner will start at about 7pm, it's just about time when Jane and Brad get out of work and the others will come earlier.

It wasn't even seven yet but Savannah, Kim and Luke already came. Sab came earlier in the afternoon to come help with the preparation. I baked a cake and cooked the foods while Sab helped me make the drinks and other desserts. My brother Toby helped to clean the living room and kitchen after we've finished preparing. At exactly 7pm, my mom's friends and Luke's parents came. After a few minutes, Brad and Jane came, I showed them around and they met my friends and my parents.

It was already 7pm, the party had started. People began to eat and mom already blew her candles. I sat down in the porch with my friends since the old people are inside the living room. It was a better idea since we can make more noises outside than we can inside. I sat beside Sab and Luke, they were my closest. Savannah and Kim sat beside each other while Jane and Brad also sat together. Luke played the guitar and we all sang. He was skilled in playing the guitar. We all had a good time.

We also played a game, spin the bottle. It was such a fun game since most of them wanted to do the "dare" instead of the "truth". It was Sab's turn to spin the bottle and it stopped in front of Luke.

~LUKE'S POV~

We went to Sophia's house for her mom's birthday. We came earlier than expected because we didn't want to become a bother by being late. I know that I am quite excited to see Sophia. I still can't sort out my feelings for her. I don't know if it's a brotherly love, a friendly love or much more than that. I just feel very happy whenever I am around her. I hope she feels the same way like I do.

Everybody's eyes were glued to Luke, who was clueless and stared at nothing in particular. I guess he was too shocked to react. Sab decided to let out a loud scream which could destroy all our ear drums just to have Luke return to reality. Luke then looked at us, and we all looked at him with worried look. He then snapped out and came back to reality. Our game continued as Sab asked Luke if he wants truth or dare. Luke answered, "Dare" and Sab dared him to go out in the neighborhood and knock on anyone's door and run back to the house. We all laughed at him for running like there's no tomorrow.

We'd had about 10 rounds before we decided to quit playing and eat again. It was 11:00 pm already. Savannah and Kim went home first because they have a curfew to obey. It was only me, Sab, Luke, Jane and Brad who was left. After fixing up the mess that we've made, Jane and Brad decided to go, leaving me with Sab and Luke. Sab will stay the night in our house, meanwhile, Luke is just my neighbor, and he can go home anytime. Luke decided to go home at about 11:30pm, bidding all of us a goodnight. It was only me and my best friend Sab. We decided to sleep right after Luke left because we were so exhausted from preparing and cleaning up. My parents and Toby slept a few minutes earlier than us. Tonight was big night for all of us.
