( 3rd POV )

" What is it, boy? What is it? "

The Taggarts pull to a stop when their dog, Max, started barking. Learning their lesson about ignoring Max's warnings, the Taggarts look ahead to see he was barking at a running figure. Taggart gets out of the car for a better look. Adjusting one of their attached searchlights, Jackie was able to see it was a girl around his age with short blond hair and a light blue jacket.

" Papa! "

Jackie shouts. Taggart gets back inside of the truck and drives the rest of the few meters to get close enough to the girl. Pulling up once more, Taggart gets out of the truck to approach Minxie.

" Where'd you come from? From that bus?"

Taggart asks softly as to not frighten the girl. The conspiracy did their job well in showing the direction they had to go. Along with Corbin's guidance, Taggart knew they were close. Very close. So he started to get prepared and climbed on top of the truck to strap himself as he readies the homemade harpoon.

"Come on answer me. "

Taggart questions once more.

" It doesn't matter. "

Minxie finally speaks up, which causes Taggart to look up at her in surprise.

" There's no one on the bus, and you can't kill it. "

' There are still a few on the bus, she's simply not aware of whom. '

" Jackie, get the dog inside. "

Taggart tells his son as he continues to adjust the harness onto himself.

" Look you can't stop it! "

Minxie yells out.

"You get in the cabin with Jack Jr. You stay down till this is over. "

Taggart tells Minxie calmly as he tightens the straps.

" This will never be over! "

Minxie shouts louder. This gets Taggart to stop what he was doing, hearing the exasperation and melancholy in her tone and seeing the slight tears in her eyes.

" It doesn't matter what you do. It'll be back... 23 years from now and 23 years from then. "

Minxie sadly informs them. She knew that so many others have tried to do the same thing as the man in front of her; she knew how many times it seemed they won; how many times, the creature took that victory; and how many lives were lost when the Creeper turned the tables. It just seemed pointless try and do anything against this unstoppable force. No one has ever been able to kill it. Not a single one. So why even make the effort? That thing is immortal and capable of wiping out entire armies without a scar to show for it.

Living so long as many other lives are lost. So many families torn. So many friends slaughtered right in front of others. So many spirits trapped inside that thing, unable to move on. The best anyone can do was run and pray that it doesn't come find them, or hold their breath that they weren't chosen to be devoured.  Taggart just lifts the tarp off of the homemade harpoon, undeterred.

" Get us to that bus. "

Taggart firmly commands. Minxie doesn't move for a few moments before she decided she had a better chance with them than running out in the open. When she took a few steps towards them, something akin to the feeling of someone nearby. Minxie looks around her quickly, snapping her head in all directions. She wasn't taking any chances if she is nearby. She may not have shown hostility to them really, but this definitely has her own agenda and it's most likely not anything good.
