( 23 years later )
A small red pickup truck pulls up near the barn with a man in his early 40's coming out to see them. Two male teens, one of them shirtless, and a female teen come out of the truck.
" You Taggart? "
The shirtless teen asks. The now older Jackie Taggart walks up to them while he continues to wipe his hands off with a rag.
" That's right. "
He confirms. The shirtless teen glances over to his other companions.
" Can we see it? "
" Can you read? "
Jackie retorts, gesturing to the wooden sign with the painted words of,
Bat Out Of Hell
1 Look $5 1 Photo $10
On top of the sign were a few ravens and crows cawing and croaking away; with a raven with a missing eye looking down at them all with a strange intelligence in its eyes.
" This something real? Because I heard it was a bunch of bullsh*t. "
The other male teen inquires Jackie. He only looks back at the teen with an even expression, used to this kind of behavior from disbelievers.
" It's still five bucks. "
The teens comply without argument, reaching into their pockets to pull out their money.
" Where'd it come from? "
The female asked Jackie who reached toward them to take their money.
" My dad killed it. "
" Yeah, but where'd it come from? "
The teen with his shirt on repeats for his female friend. Jackie opts to simply stare at the teen.
" That's five bucks from you too. "
Jackie replies. Seeing he was going to get nowhere with this, he takes out his five bucks to hand it to Jackie.
" How'd he kill it? "
He asks instead as Jackie pockets his payment.
" Ask him. "
He simply told them. The teens give one another a slightly confused expression at the older man's odd behavior. They don't press him and chose to go inside the barn instead. The barn from the inside looked more worn down than it did from the outside with thick cobwebs covering practically every free crevice and the only light source coming from holes in the walls. They see the same one-eyed raven along with a crow making their respective calls while perching near what looked like a very old and withered man-like creature with bat-like wings.
The teen with his shirt on only scoffs as he puts his hands on his hips.
" Come on, man. We ought to go get our money back. "
He tells his companions while observing the details of the thing in front of him. Its face seemed to be covered with some kind of membrane; looked weathered down to the bone with dust and cobwebs clinging to its form, and there also seemed to be some wispy tufts of white hair on it.
