Chapter 4 - A Fresh Start

Once again, Logan's three siblings were waiting for him so they could leave for school but minutes had passed and there had been no response. In a sympathetic voice, Alexandra remarked "You three go ahead. Your brother still must be in pain so myself or your father will drop him to school in the car." Without any response, the three siblings left the house. As Logan came down, he checked to see if anyone was looking and grabbed the very book that had allowed him to heal himself, putting it in his small rucksack.

Once in school, Logan slowly sauntered into the wide main hallway, attempting to make it to the bathroom without being noticed by anyone who had witnessed The Idealists' massacre of him. Trying not to attract any attention to himself, Logan crept slowly into the bathroom, bringing the Incarnated Grimoire with him. 

No one else was in the bathroom  so Logan took the colossal book out, dumping his rucksack on the floor. He flicked through the pages, desperately trying to find a spell he could use to avoid a further slaughtering at the hands of Dustin McCabe and his goons. As he turned the pages, a page in particular caught his attention. Titled "Combat Spells", Logan thought it could increase his chances if a fight materialised. He moved his eyes up and down, skimming the name of each spell. "Regeneration of health" - no, "Fireballs" - cool, but it would have to be a no since Logan did not wish to give away the fact that he was a wizard. As Logan was getting increasingly frustrated, a section of spells caught his attention - "Increased Strength", "Increased Endurance", "Increased ability to take more damage", "Powerful punches and kicks", and "Maximise dodging ability". Logan silently cheered to himself, he would never have to take another battering again. He began to recite the spells one by one, "Veneris scriptor vires melius" and it was certainly working since beams of illuminated light were moving all across his skin and body. However, as Logan recited more and more spells, the book started to glow at an increasingly alarming rate, glowing more each time another spell was recited. BOOM! A flash of light suddenly blinded Logan, with an ear-piercing bang! The physical impact was immense, as if Logan was being thrown halfway across the world by an Act of God. Stones stung his skin, with multiple small cuts all over his neck and blood dripping from his head. Suddenly, there was total silence just before there came the muffled sound of the fire alarm. As Logan lay down motionless, a piece of trash floated down to the ground, still burning. 

Logan's eyes re-opened after being unconscious for an unknown period of time. He staggered to his feet, shaking and almost falling over once again. His vision was blurred and his ears were ringing louder than ever before. He sauntered out of the now ruined bathroom and into the hallway, staring in shock at the mess before his eyes. The row of lockers closest to the bathroom were in ruins and there were shards of glass from classroom doors lying all over the floor. Logan looked around and there was no one to be seen, perhaps they had all been evacuated. Suddenly, a deep voice shouted at Logan from across the hall "You! What have you done to our school? You'll pay for this you bloody terrorist!" The voice belonged to Adrian LeBlanc, one of the delinquents who had hospitalised him on his first day.  Accompanying him was Mackenzie Bellewood, the girl that Logan had been attracted to since that very day.

 Adrian walked up to Logan and looked him dead in the eye before swinging his fist towards the side of his face. Adrian's fist collided with Logan's face with a great impact as more blood dripped down Logan's cheek. Logan's face remained expressionless as Mackenzie pleaded to Adrian to stop attacking him. Adrian responded to Mackenzie by pushing her backwards, resulting in her crashing into the already damaged lockers and cutting her arm on one of the glass shards on the floor. Suddenly, a feeling of rage overwhelmed Logan's body and his eyes were fixed on Adrian in resentment. As Adrian once again swung his fist towards Logan's face, his punch was dodged before Logan's elbow smacked him in the mouth, causing him to move back. Before Adrian could ready himself, Logan ran towards him, sweeping his legs and causing him to fall over and land on his stomach. Once Adrian got up, he moved towards Logan and threw a kick towards his stomach which was caught, and then twisted before Logan jumped up and threw a kick of his own towards his opponent's face, sending him landing heavily on his back, which made a resounding cracking noise. 

Logan rushed to Mackenzie, who was bleeding severely from her arms. As Logan attempted to stop some of Mackenzie's bleeding, the main doors swung open and Dustin gritted his teeth in anger at Logan, looking down at his friend's injured body before sprinting  towards the pair and tackling Logan into his own locker.

 The doors flung open once again as Enzo and his friend Antonio had finally found Logan, coming to his aid rapidly. It was three against one, surely Dustin would be overpowered, especially with Logan's increased strength. Enzo grabbed Dustin by the scruff of his neck and launched him into the staircase banister, splitting his cheek open. As Enzo advanced on Dustin, the sound of a brutal beating caught his attention, resulting in him turning around to see Antonio being beaten down by the two remaining Idealists; Cole Zimmerman and Carter Daniels. 

Enzo rushed back to help Antonio, dropkicking the two attackers in their faces. As Dustin ran towards the both of them, Logan suddenly mustered the strength to get up and planted a roundhouse kick straight into his cut cheek, further splitting it and sending him flying into Adrian, who had been on the floor crying out in agony after having had his back broken. It looked as if The Idealists had been defeated by the group of leather jacket-wearing misfits, however Carter had gotten up unnoticed and grabbed Mackenzie, wrapping his bulky arm firmly around her mouth and holding a knife up to her throat. "I'll kill the fucking slut! Stay back!" Now all the courage of Logan and his friends had vanished into thin air, as they had never been put in such a situation before. Mackenzie struggled massively but was punched in the stomach every time she did so, with the muffled sound of screams coming from her covered mouth. 

This threat from Cole had given the rest of The Idealists apart from Adrian, time to recover and they soon had Logan, Enzo and Antonio cornered. When they were about to accept defeat, the closest Gym room door was kicked open, with a powerful thud. Out came two familiar faces, one far too familiar to Logan. It was Savannah and the ex-Idealist who had also suffered a near-massacre at the hands of the degenerates; Hunter Costello. Hunter still had deep wounds from that day, with the right side of his face scarred and his arms bruised, and it appeared he was out for revenge. Savannah shoved Carter away from her brother who in response, aimed a punch at her which was dodged before she planted a barrage of her own punches and kicks on him, from his legs to his face. As Savannah was attacking Carter, Hunter grabbed Cole by the neck, holding him up in the air before slamming him down onto the floor. Hunter signaled to Antonio to guide Mackenzie away from the fight and to the nurse's office. Meanwhile, Logan and Enzo both combined to land a flurry of punches, kicks and elbows on Carter, knocking him unconscious. 

Dustin was astonished by what he was seeing, all of The Idealists were down and the leather jacket-clad degenerates and a girl had beaten them to a pulp. Formed as a compact row, all of them walked towards him with grimacing faces. Turning pale in horror, Dustin attempted to turn away, but Logan magically appeared in front of him when he ran to the right and when he ran to the left, Savannah magically appeared in front of him. He was cornered. Hunter walked towards Dustin, staring him down until there was sweat dripping down his forehead and then throwing an open fist into his throat before aiming a kick at his gut. One by one, they all inflicted damage on Dustin, sending him sprawling to the ground with a bruised eye and wounds all over his face. 

Hunter picked Dustin up by his collar, aiming a kick at his manhood, sending him falling onto his knees, screaming in agony. He aimed a kick at Dustin's head, catching his forehead and causing him to fall back, but he was caught by Logan who held him by his sweater and swung him backwards and forwards, smacking his face on the marble steps repeatedly, doing to Dustin what Dustin had done to him all those days ago. 

The blonde-haired villain lay on the floor, his body motionless and surrounded by a thick pool of blood, looking as if he had been shot.

***Author's Note: Sorry for all the violence! I promise there won't be near as much of it in the next few chapters.
