Mark swung his backpack over his shoulders, stepping down the stairs as fast as he could, hopping off the last step. He snatched the avocado toast his mom left for him on the counter before she went to work, biting into the bread as he slid out the front door.
He got into his car and plugged in the keys, pressing onto the gas pedal quite recklessly as he tried to beat the traffic while he ate his toast. He arrived at his school and ran into the locker hall, which was already emptying rapidly because everyone was heading to first period.
Mark retrieved his books and other school shit from his locker before sprinting to his first class. The bell rang right as he stumbled in.
"Mr. Lee, you're lucky you came here right on the bell, therefore I won't consider it late." the teacher snapped as the teen plopped into his seat in the second row.
"Sorry." he quickly muttered, turning his head to glance over his shoulder to meet eyes with one of his friends Jeno, who was sitting in the back of the classroom.
—
"So, why were you late?" Jeno asked as the two boys walked down the hall after first period was released.
"Slept in." Mark simply answered, a sigh escaping his lips.
The raven haired shook his head and smiled. "I should of expected that."
After slugging through three more classes in the morning, Mark could finally grant his growling stomach its wishes. He strolled towards the cafeteria, a smile across his lips until he realized he had forgotten his lunch at home. Nor did he have money to buy anything.
"Shit." his eyes widened as he walked over to his friends' usual table. Mark sat down, lost in a gaze.
"Guys, he didn't greet us with 'yo dream', something's off." Jisung, the youngest of the group observed, reaching out from across the table, shaking Mark's shoulder lightly.
"Earth to Mark."
The older snapped out of his trance at that voice, watching Donghyuck settled at the table.
"Is your head stuck in your ass again?" his best friend then asked.
"I have a large ass head what do you think-"
"How was your guys' break?" Renjun interrupted Mark, not wanting to listen to their stupid, pointless banter.
"Mine was great." Jaemin piped through stuffed cheeks. "Jeno and I skyped a lot and we-"
"Nice to know lovebirds, I don't need intimate details." Chenle cut off the other. "I just tortured my body by playing a lot of basketball. It was fun though."
As the Chinese was speaking, Mark snuck his hand into his chip bag, grabbing a few and putting them into his mouth. He slowly but surely started stealing from the others, such as Jaemin's bag of almonds, a bite of Jeno's sandwich. It was until he got to Donghyuck he was caught red handed.
"Did you forget your lunch?" he questioned, raising an eyebrow at Mark.
The older's lips parted as everyone stopped their conversations and focused on him.
"Come on Mark, you're a fucking adult and you don't even have the courage to ask your friends for food so instead you steal it from them and hope they don't notice." the latter shook his head at the stupidity of his best friend.
He tore his sandwich in half and extended his arm out. "Feed yourself, dumbass."
Mark took the offer, muttering a soft 'thanks man' before consuming the little piece of food.
He glanced at Donghyuck, who returned to his conversation with Chenle.
What a tsundere, he thought.
