"What are you doing here?" I asked in puzzlement. This is the weirdest thing ever. Damien brought Amara and Ryan, Nate brought Audrey. Whoever thought this was a good idea is the king of stupid.

Obsidian prepare to shift we are going to ditch them.

What are they thinking?

They have gone insane, Obsidian. Truly insane.  If they think I am going to let them help me. They are seriously messed up in the head.

Damien answered. "We are all going to help you complete your mission."

"No you are not." I retorted.

"Why not?" Nate answered.

"Oh, I don't know maybe because, I'm a freak, and I have to stay away from you." I replied back angrily.

Five minutes ago, he insults me, and now he wants to help me save the world. I blame drugs.

"Look, I don't need you. Any of you. I am going to do this by myself with my mate, and that's it."

I said firmly and stubbornly.

"Okay, I agree, Scarlett. Just you and me. Together." Damien said happily.

"No, not you. Him. My soul mate." I said pointing to Obsidian, who was still in human form.

"Who are you?" Ryan blurted out.

Obsidian stepped out of the shadows, looking extremely smug and proud.

"I'm Obsidian." Obsidian said as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.

"Your soul mates? With a broken werewolf?" Ryan said incredulously.

"He isn't broken. He can shift back." I said defensively.

"For 2 hours a day." Obsidian replied back amused.

"Until you mark me."

Damien stepped in, looking angry.

"She's mine." Damien said.

"No, she's mine!" Obsidian claimed, furious.

I cleared my throat. Obsidian and Damien stopped their stand-off and looked at me. In fact, all eyes were on me.

"I would like to mention the following... the extreme amount of testosterone in the air is making me want to throw up, second I am nobody's possession, I belong to me, I am not a piece of furniture or a trophy, third I hate jealous guys so this is not attractive, fourth I will let you all come along, because you are going to try to follow me anyway, fifth I am the leader and if I feel like leaving all of you and doing this solo I will, and nobody will stop me. Got it?"

Everyone nodded their heads in agreement.

Amara stood in the back of the crowd, glaring daggers at me, and I wondered why she was here.

"Amara, why are you here?" I asked curiously.

"For Damien only, to sastify all of his needs. But I am very generous." She replied in a sickly sweet voice making me gag.

"Okay... first, eww. Second, I did not need to know that."

"Ryan, why in the world are you here?" I asked.

Ryan grumbled, crinkling his nose in distaste. "I ask myself the same question, Scar." Mocking me, he said. "Because I love my son so much. You know how important family is to me." He raised one eyebrow at me, daring me to challenge him to speak the truth. I wasn't going to fall for his tricks.

"But better to get hurt by the truth than comforted with a lie. There is never a time or place for true love. It happens accidentally, in a heartbeat, in a single flashing, throbbing moment. Do you remember that saying, because it feels awfully familar to me?" I say with a wicked grin, mocking him.

Ryan looks pale and I can't help but grin wider. "Remember what they say Ry-Ry? What goes around, comes around?"

"What is she talking about Dad?" Damien asks confused.

Ryan regains his posture and gives his son a weak smile."Nothing son." He says hoping to end the conversation. Wrong.

"Scarlett, what are you talking about?" Nate gets into the conversation curious.

I smile and look at Ryan, his eyes begging me for mercy. Did he give the family who protected mercy? No. Ryan keeps staring at me, realization hitting him with a brick. Why should I give him mercy when he didn't give me any?

"Nothing Nate, just an old allegory." I say everyone in the room gives me a puzzled look.

"Allegory?" Ryan says looking scared.

"Yes Ryan. Allegory. You know? a story, poem, or picture that can be interpreted to reveal a hidden meaning." I said.

"What meaning?" Obsidian said amused.

"That the past can come back to bite you. Or in some cases kill you." I looked over to Ryan, he nodded, he understood not to disobey my orders, when it came to this mission.

Everyone became rigid after that, but not me. I liked the silence. Tenseful silence, but silence none of the less, silence gave me time to think, something I needed in a time like this.

Out of nowhere a dove came into the cave and on it's foot a piece of paper tied with ribbon.

"Who is it for?" Damien asked curiously.

"It's for me." I replied.

"For you?" Obsidian asked.

"Yes."

I put my hand out and the dove came to me. I petted the dove gently and bonded with it.

What's your name, little one?

Gemini

Is the message from him?

Yes.

"You can fly away now Gemini. Tell him I have received it." I told Gemini, and she flew off and it was then, I realized how much I miss me being able to use my wings. I sighed, opened the note it read.

You have been requested to attend the ball.

I miss you, Angel.

With great love,

Yours truly.

I looked at the note and burned it so nobody could tell where we were going. I took the scarlett ribbon and put it in my pocket, because it reminded me of him.

I looked at the people standing infront of me, they were all expecting an answer.

"Get a goodnight's sleep tonight because tomorrow we are going to a ball."
