A Love Song

10 2 2

Many long hours
I spent in solitude.
Emptiness engulfed me
As I wandered
In the mist.
Startled to hear a call,
I turned around,
The voice did sound close,
Very close to my heart.
My soul yearned to hear more,
To see closer
I know not why
I felt something
Stirring inside me
My heart craved to see
The provenance of that angelic voice.

And sure did I see!
The mist
That had for long consumed me,
Shook.
It seemed to me
As if they walked around
Questioning
Who challenged
Their 'peaceful existence'!
Slowly and steadily
I felt the thick mist
Falling apart.
My foggy vision
Gave way
To the most delightful sight.
Pair of hands,
So warm and so welcoming
Moved steadily towards me.
And through the mist
Emerged his symmetrical form.

I met the eyes,
For which I have been
Waiting so long to meet.
He looked back at me,
As if to say,
'Here I come, my love,
To free you from your loneliness'
And when eyes closed,
I extended
My arms towards him,
A ray of white light
Touched my troubled soul.
I opened my eyes
And all the beauteous forms of nature
That had been hidden from me,
Appeared crystal clear to me.
I realized I was in a paradise
Where it was spring all through the year.
Clear blue sky above
And green mattress
With cradle of colourful flowers,
Embellished the land.
The fragrance that those flowers spread
Awakened my soul to a new hope.
I saw in his eyes a promise
Of eternal love and care.
In him,
I saw the true meaning of my existence
And it is for him that I have submitted myself
Body and soul.
