i came into this world with closed fists and chubby legs and arms
with my misfit cries i never missed a meal
10am sharp
3am sharp
10pm sharp
1pm sharp
four meals a day, quite the accomplishment for my short stubby body

why is it when we're young we never remember the blissful moments of your mother cradling you into her chest
the way your father read a book to make you less afraid of the dark
and if you have a sibling
the way the couch would turn into a fortress of blankets and mischievous clicking of flashlights

i can't remember any of it
the mind is cruel
at age one, we don't remember a thing
by the time we're on our death bed
we can't remember a thing

the difference between "can't" and "don't" is

"can't" means you're aware you can not, in no way possible do anything
"don't" is the subconscious choice to not do anything
i don't love you
