I banged my feet and fists against the sheet metal that created the walls. Nothing worked. When I looked, my fingers and knuckles were starting to bruise, and my feet tingled. I felt the van go from side to side, and eventually, I sat in the middle of the space, knees pulled up to my chest. After what seemed like forever, the doors were opened.
The man had shaggy, black hair and stubble on his face. It made me sick. I nearly hurled myself out of the van, kicking and screaming at him, but he covered my mouth with a rag, squeezing until I could no longer utter a word. I was dragged somewhere, I couldn't see the address or what any of the place looked like. Frankly, I didn't even know if we were at a house. I scratched at his arms and hands for quite sometime as he dragged me along.
"You better quit that shit, or it'll be worse for you, ya hear?" His voice was so threatening, I nearly peed myself. I shut up the rest of the way, and I was finally dropped onto a wooden floor, and the rag was released from over my mouth. A heavy metal door was shut, and I was left there all alone. I looked around to see that I had been shut in what must be the size of a horse stable or a very small barn. There wasn't much room.
On one wall, there was a teeny window that I could see the smallest bit of sunlight through. Against another was a twin size bed with plain, white blankets and sheets, and a rusting metal frame. The only color in the room was the pillow, which was pink. A small sink and toilet fit, but nothing else. I was afraid to get up from the floor, and I wondered if anyone would be able to hear me if I screamed loud enough.
Slowly, I stood up and made my way to the window. From what I could see, there were trees and woods all around me. Did that man live here? Or around here? Was he leaving me out in this shed to die just for the hell of it? No, no he must want something from me. I crept over to the door that had shut with a clank, and I pressed my ear against it. No sounds came from the other side.
I had no clue what time it was. Ethan and the kids are probably worried. I need to get out of here. I need to get to them, and fast. With determination, I stood at the end of the bed, and with all my might, I ran at the door and tried to ram it with my shoulder. I did it about a dozen times before my body gave out. Next, I tried the window, although, I knew it probably wouldn't do much good. I caught a glimpse of a spoon on the sink, and I grabbed it. With everything I had in me, I tried my damn best to break that glass, but I didn't so much as make a dent.
"What the- get over here!" The man barked from behind me. I stopped in my tracks, and trembling, I dropped the metal spoon and turned around to face my abductor. I had never seen this man before in my life. He extended his index finger, gesturing for me to come over to him. I was beyond terrified.
"My house, my rules. You do as I say, when I say. Your food will be rationed each week, so you better make it last. I'll get you one thing of your choice from you every Wednesday from town. If I think it's reasonable. Is that clear?"
"Why the fuck did you take me?!" I scream in his face, and it doesn't take but a split second from his palm to come whipping at my cheek. Immediately, I put my hand to it, and it stings. When I pull away, there's slight blood on my fingertips. The man is completely enraged.
"You ever talk back to me like that again, I'll fucking kill you. No questions asked," He's loud and obnoxious, and he spits when he talks. I look down at the floor, and when I look back up, his back is turned to me, and he's ready to leave.
"Now, you be a good girl, Daisy, and I won't have to punish you. Understand?" I swallowed hard. Him calling me Daisy was probably this stupid fucking fetish thing that he had, and if I wanted to live, I had no choice but to go along with it.
"Yes, sir."
"Good. Now, bedtime, darling. Sleep well." With that, the door was opened briefly, but shut and locked as soon as he exited. Darling. The word ran chills up my spine.
